Job Summary

The Senior Associate Software Engineer will analyze business requirements and functional designs, collaborating with business teams, BSAs, and other engineers to design systems and application software. This role will contribute to the development of innovative backend solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer needs and contribute to the specification process to create solutions that enhance user satisfaction
  • Participate in the estimation, design, and development of key system features, focusing on backend architecture
  • Designs for larger enhancements, projects and cross system/functional enhancements
  • Develops and maintains code for larger enhancements, projects and integrations
  • Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new technologies and open-source solutions to improve backend services
  • Write efficient, reusable, and reliable code, with a focus on backend development
  • Conducts code performance analysis, tuning and review
  • Ensure integration across various technical components and services
  • Engage in peer reviews and adhere to standard coding practices
  • Optimize application performance, quality, and responsiveness, particularly in backend processes
  • Identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks and bugs, proposing effective solutions
  • Address production issues promptly, focusing on customer impact and preventing recurrence
  • Drives certification processes working with cross-domain teams
  • Ensures quality and completeness of deployments

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in building backend services, preferably using a Java and Spring Boot-based cloud development stack
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design principles, and architectural patterns, including REST API design
  • Familiarity with various architectural styles, including microservices and API-first approaches
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle, including writing complex queries and optimizing database performance
  • Knowledge of caching strategies and technologies (e.g., Redis, Memcached) to enhance application performance
  • Hands-on experience in designing and implementing high-availability and high throughput micro-services, SOA based applications and cloud-based services
  • Experience with message brokers and event-driven architectures (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).
  • Exposure to cloud-based SaaS/PaaS products and familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Understanding of web services and API design, including RESTful and SOAP services
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
  • Experience working within agile methodologies and CI/CD frameworks, such as GitHub Actions
  • Ability to adapt to different programming languages and tools as needed
  • Strong communication skills to articulate ideas and design considerations effectively
  • Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills
