Physical Security Enablement Manager

Job Summary

The Physical Security Enablement Manager uses wide-ranged advanced experience to manage security enablement projects, is a technical security expert who provides service-related support across the globe, utilizes business security expertise to determine methods and processes on new procedures for complex Data Center security issues, and will lead the global security training content creation in partnership with multiple business units within Equinix.

Responsibilities

Systems Support

  • Possesses expert knowledge of security systems to provide physical security system support, resolving complex issues across Equinix global data center locations
  • Provides process and system leadership to Data Center Operations and system administrators who install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the security systems for the organization, along with provides recommendations for improvements based on research including new tools, processes, and technologies
  • Responsible for vendor and manufacture escalation of systems errors and failures
  • Contributes to collection, analyzing and reporting to management on operational metrics
  • Develops and maintains methods to minimize issues, makes, and implements recommendations, in alignment with global, and regional partners in relation to security systems, training, policy, procedure, strategic direction, and future business objectives
  • Coordinates and manages Single Point of Failure (SPOF) and End of Life (EOL) reviews, including lifecycle analysis, performing site physicals, assessments, and remediation
  • Works cross-functionally to implement changes across all data centers to achieve and maintain a consistent physical security program and knowledge
  • Leads process improvement projects
  • Leads multiple tasks within multi-functional projects

Training

  • Global responsibility for advanced training content, training programs, drills, and materials pertaining to physical security
  • Monitors training, drill plans, and performance to ensure that security training plans are on track and performance is met, with regular review
  • Identifies training needs and supports the development of training programs to educate personnel on various aspects of security, including but not limited to cybersecurity measures, emergency response protocols, physical security policies and procedures, and supporting system tools.=
  • Responsibilities will include creating training materials relevant to various collaborators across the enterprise, conducting workshops, and staying updated on the latest security threats and standard processes
  • Effective communication and the ability to tailor and deliver training to different audiences is crucial for this role
  • Ability to prepare and deliver engaging presentations and communicate information to diverse audiences
  • Uses advanced industry knowledge to provide recommendations for the global teams, lead training of newly deployed security systems for outsources security staff and Data Center Operations functions

Project Management

  • Manages security directs and sub-directs who coordinate the completion of security projects, deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors progress of complex projects
  • Manages multiple tasks within cross-functional project teams
  • Supports and provides input/guidance on system and platform enhancements, design engineering and project planning on new and expansion of Data Centers
  • Responsible for the coordination and completion of security projects, setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing the progress of the project
  • Plans and coordinates project scheduling, budgeting, and administrative tasks
  • Facilitates projects by conducting meetings, recording meeting minutes/action items, and performing thorough follow-ups
  • Research and analyze data to evaluate operational difficulties and make recommendations to solve problems

Data Center Enablement

  • Sets key performance indicator goals at a regional level and oversees regional Operations Security teams
  • Assists in the department budget and assist with setting Data Center budgets
  • Manages security vendors to support guarding, hardware installation, upgrades, configurations, repair and maintenance

Processes

  • Manages physical security and business continuity process rollouts for sites/countries within a complex scope
  • Provides feedback and leads process improvement and efficiency projects
  • Uses wide-ranged advanced experience in managing cross-functional process rollouts
  • Manages cross-functional teams and process rollout within the Data Center and refines the development and definition of security and business processes in the Data Center, recommends/proposes solutions for systematic process-related complex problems
  • Determines methods and procedures for continuous improvement and supports implementation of changes and assists with process and maintenance adherence

Design Engineering

  • Implements both existing and new design methods and standards for new Data Center design engineering efforts
  • Leads and provides guidance to other employees within the job family
  • Recommends alterations to design, development, implementation, and analysis to improve quality of products, new technologies, procedures and/or efficiencies
  • Provides drawing reviews of both internal and cross-functional designs

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Data Center experience preferred
  • Comfortable speaking and presenting in front of large groups
  • In-depth knowledge of security system installation and operation required
  • Must be a highly organized, self-motivated, and positive teammate with a confirmed ability to provide effective oversight and systems management, development, and follow-up to prompt closure on security initiatives, plans, and solutions
  • Requires the ability to perform physical tasks as needed to complete special projects within a Data Center environment, such as access control and CCTV system installation surveys, including climbing ladders, and bending and stretching during site inspections
  • Work independently, make timely decisions, and lead multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to work in a supervisory role and lead the team on various operational projects
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and the ability use Microsoft Office Suite proficiently
  • Ability to travel as needed to various Equinix operating sites around the globe for up to a week at a time based on business needs
  • Bilingual speaking preferred

Education / Certifications / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Management, Business, or a related discipline is preferred, and 6+ years' experience in physical security or data center training-related role (or 10 years' experience in the aforementioned fields in lieu of a Bachelor's degree)
  • Experience with a major security systems manufacturer, preferably AMAG Symmetry, Gallagher, and or Salient CompleteView - certification a plus
