Job Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Lead Critical Facilities Technician to join our Data Center Operations team in Frankfurt, more precisely our FR9x Data Centre. In this role, you will take ownership of complex maintenance tasks, lead infrastructure projects, and support the team in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our critical facility systems. You will also act as a deputy to the Data Center Manager and play a key role in vendor coordination, incident response, and continuous improvement of operational procedures.
Responsibilities
Facility & Infrastructure Maintenance
- Perform advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on critical facility systems
- Lead and coordinate infrastructure operations and energy efficiency initiatives
- Monitor and respond to Building Monitoring System (BMS) alarms and recommend procedural improvements
- Inspect and maintain plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems
- Develop project scopes for lifecycle maintenance and infrastructure upgrades
Vendor Management
- Select and manage vendors for outsourced maintenance activities
- Direct vendors on complex tasks and ensure compliance with standards
- Create and submit maintenance scripts and manage work approval processes
- Oversee updates to technical documentation in collaboration with vendors
Site Administration & Incident Support
- Complete complex site logs and support permit issuance (e.g., MOPs)
- Identify and escalate process discrepancies and Single Points of Failure (SPOFs)
- Support the team during critical incidents and assist with Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Maintain and update technical documentation
Work Orders & Projects
- Execute complex work requests and circuit installations
- Troubleshoot and maintain office and auxiliary equipment
- Lead infrastructure project activities and perform capacity management reviews
Collaboration & Leadership
- Act as a support team lead and mentor for junior technicians
- Collaborate across departments to resolve complex facility issues
- Plan inventory needs and manage critical spare parts
- Provide guidance on repairs and preventative maintenance
Qualifications
- Completed vocational training as an Electrician, Electronics Technician, Energy Electronics Technician, or Network Technician (m/f/d), or equivalent
- Further qualification as a Technician or Master Craftsman is a plus
- Proven years of professional experience, ideally in a data center environment
- Strong knowledge in building infrastructure maintenance and repair
- Experience in team leadership and workforce planning
- Good command of English; German is a plus
- High level of reliability, independence, and structured working style
- Strong communication skills and a hands-on, service-oriented mindset
