Data Center Customer Operations Engineer IV

Job Summary

Data Center Customer Operations Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting and installing advanced circuits, as well as performing custom installations. The role involves working with customers to troubleshoot issues, managing installation queues, and maintaining detailed records of all work activity. The engineer will also be involved in cross connects, documentation/reporting, infrastructure modification projects, and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely and precise order execution.

Responsibilities

  • Install customer equipment by racking and stacking
  • Read and implement installation plans using Visio Drawings and Spreadsheets
  • Install circuits with advanced fiber terminations
  • Determine work priorities from the Oracle queue and adhere to commit times
  • Troubleshoot switched/multiplexed/media converted circuits, escalating to the networking group as needed
  • Collaborate with customers to troubleshoot issues
  • Install, test, and modify cross connects per SOPs, ensuring proper cable management
  • Install and test advanced cross connect circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.)
  • Maintain detailed written records of all work activity
  • Design and lead cage/infrastructure modification projects
  • Complete assigned training in a timely manner
  • Support customer satisfaction through timely and precise order execution

Qualifications

  • Higher Diploma or above in relevant discipline
  • About 5 years of experience in the Data Center operation
  • Experience with BERT and SONET test equipment
