Eaton's Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions division is currently seeking a Sustaining Engineer to join the team in Houston, TX. This is a hybrid role.

As the electrical industry's global leader for explosion proof and hazardous environments, Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) is constantly pushing forward and looking ahead, advancing electrical and instrumentation products in new and innovative ways. GEIS manufactures over 100,000 products for NEC and IEC applications, including: conduit fittings and cable glands, industrial control and electrical apparatus, enclosures, industrial luminaires (including LED), plugs and receptacles, drilling and marine products, commercial construction, solar solutions, industrial and commercial cabletray, mechanical hanging components, and bracing products.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $62250.03 - $91300.04 a year.

What you'll do:

Position Overview:

As the Sustaining Engineer, you will support existing products and product requests that will penetrate the national and international markets. This is a role that will provide the opportunity to work cross-functionally with other business areas including Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality Control, and Operations. It will require you to have ambition, drive, and strong engineering experiences, with enthusiasm in the product design arena. A highly entrepreneurial sense of urgency along with a passion for the industry is desirable, along with a drive to grow both personally and professionally.

The position will allow you to demonstrate your ability to drive innovation from request through the design process, identification of product changes; product support and improvement are highly valued. The position will require you to be highly proficient in time management and engineering documentation with the ability to manage multiple projects in parallel with enabling rapid development of product designs to support customer requests.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Mechanical engineering, solid modeling, and product design
  • Assume accountability for projects assigned
  • Effectively communicate across the project team and to their immediate managers
  • Maintain and upgrade existing products
  • Assist with 3rd party certifications
  • Develop and test prototypes for new product ideas
  • Support operations teams with drawing changes and design changes
  • Support supply chain with specifications for purchase components
  • Ensure timely completion to project commitment dates
  • Create and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
  • Identify and execute cost out projects to drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)
  • Hands on testing of products, design validation, detail design, and drawing review

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum two (2) years engineering experience with a preference in product design
  • CAD or SolidWorks modeling experience and the ability to develop 2D drawings
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within 50 miles of Houston, TX will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • SAP experience
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Experience in sheet metal stamping and designing spring steel products
  • Experience in LED Lighting design

Skills:
