Eaton's IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Sr. Quality Engineer. This position is located at our Kings Mountain, NC facility. Relocation assistance is available for this opportunity to those within the United States/PR.
The Senior Quality Engineer will direct and support the day-to-day quality functions for manufacturing / machining processes of our heavy-duty truck transmission facility. This role champions the Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS) and the Eaton Business System (EBS) as the "voice of the customer" for the facility. The driving focus will be on developing, implementing, and maintaining process controls which meet/exceed customer requirements, and supporting internal quality performance, continuous improvement, and DPPM reduction in the assigned area.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year.

What you'll do:
- Develop and implement corrective actions using SPC data, 8D, 5 Why, A3 and other Lean and root cause analysis tools to support initiatives around the improvement of FPY (First Pass Yield), reduction of internal and external Customer Complaints, rework & scrap.
- Interpret customer requirements, to include new product launch; execute PPAP & APQP (Control plans, PFMEAs, MSAs, GR&R, etc.) activities in accordance to EQMS / IATF16949 Standards.
- Manage a small team of Quality Technicians, including timecard approval, performance management, development, hiring, and resolving issues and conflict.
- Develop internal product validation/inspection methods to ensure process Quality consistency.
- Monitor CTQ trends and lead efforts to keep processes in control. Develop capability analysis for machine moves, new machines, etc.
- Lead customer focus activities including customer site visits and various Quality System Audits and Assessments (Layered Process Audits, Dock Audits, IATF Audits, EQMS Audits).
- Support the Manufacturing Operations Flow Line Teams by providing Quality expertise and product disposition; work to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers across the team that may affect quality and customer requirements.
- Drive a continuous improvement culture by participating and leading Continuous Improvement (CI) activities including Value Stream Mapping, 5S+, Standard Work creation, Set-up reduction, 3P, Rapid Improvement Events, and other EBS Tools.
- Manage Change Control within assigned area.
- Train employees in quality tools: SPC (Infinity QS), Root Cause Analysis, Gaging Methods, etc.
- Communicate with internal and external Suppliers and Customers as needed.
Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future
- Relocation support is available to those within the United States/PR. Local candidates residing within 50 miles of Kings Mountain, NC will also be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with APQP, PPAP's, SPC (Infinity/Minitab), MSA, Lean Methodology, GD&T, DOE, IATF16949
- Experience with leading others (directly or indirectly)
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Green Belt Certification
- Experience working in machining and/or welding environment
Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written with ability to effectively communicate to internal & external partners
- Demonstrated strong problem solving
