Eaton's Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a Site Operational Excellence (OpEx) Manager to join the team at our manufacturing facility in Houston, TX. Relocation assistance is available.

The Houston, TX site is the home of a variety of family products all explosion-proof, with a focus on LED lighting fixtures and control panels. With 50 employees onsite, this plant is an excellent stepping stone into the organization, as it places a high value on talented professionals who are focused on problem solving and efficiency and looking to grow within the plant and Eaton as a whole.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you'll do:

As the Site Operational Excellence (OpEx) Manager, you will deploy the proven tools and processes of Eaton Business Systems (EBS), Eaton Lean Six Sigma (ELSS) and Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS) to drive performance excellence to improve competitiveness and customer satisfaction. The implementation of Eaton Lean Six Sigma strategies is essential to improvements in areas such as employee safety, quality performance, factory margins, product delivery performance and reductions in product/process variation. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager and functionally report to the division OpEx Manager, while maintaining a functional connection to the Global Quality Director. As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will promote a plant culture of Continuous Improvement, Lean and Quality to drive change. This role will direct the activities of the Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Departments. Day to day activities include:

  • Continuous Improvement - Build Lean Tool capability across the organization and develop local Lean/CI Tool Champions by providing training and consulting support. Utilize change management techniques such as ADKAR to effectively drive and sustain process improvements. Lead the Eaton Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) deployment (visual controls, process standardization, leader standard work, Gemba walks, manning strategy, daily accountability, process checks and CI for everyone). Plan and execute successful kaizen / Rapid Improvement Events (RIE).
  • Site Leadership Team - Work with Plant and Divisional leadership in identifying high-priority areas for improvement from annual Plant level Value Stream Mapping rounds; to ensure Lean efforts are aligned to and fully supporting Profit Plan and Strategic Plan goals. Lead achievement of Plant Cost Out goals.
  • Quality - Lead customer and supplier quality performance of the site to world class level through all employees in alignment with company-wide quality policy "I own Quality". Identify & promote Best-Practices within Plant and the Eaton Global Community. Lead self-assessments for Quality, Lean, and the EBS; monitor assessment outcomes and corrective action plans, and impact on business results. Drive quality management systems (ISO and EQMS), manufacturing compliance to agency requirements (UL, ATEX, ABS and others) improving the Cost of Non-Conformance and leading teams to reduce customer complaints.
  • Training - Coach and mentor other functions (EHS, Production, etc.) in root cause analysis and problem-solving tools/methods (Six Sigma, 8D, etc.). Act as a change agent to drive the elimination of waste and lead time reduction.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum three (3) years of Continuous Improvement experience in Manufacturing environment
  • Minimum one (1) year of Quality experience
  • Must be able to work legally in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or within the future.
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Pearland, TX will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitations.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with lean manufacturing tools/elements (VSM, 5S, Standard Work, Set-Up Reduction, etc.).
  • Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of production environments (low volume/high mix and high volume/low mix) including safety requirements and use of lean techniques in these environments
  • Familiarity with ISO requirements including participation in Audits
