Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Service Application Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $104347.8 - $153043.44 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

Directs and supports the development of technical applications and proposals for medium, large, and complex opportunities within Eaton's Engineering Services & Systems (EESS) Division. Functions as a strategic partner in driving solution design, pricing strategy, and proposal execution to meet customer requirements across diverse market segments. Coordinates with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored engineering service offerings that enhance operational performance, ensure compliance, and maximize customer value.

In this position you will:

  • Lead technical proposal and bid package development; provides power distribution application support for the Atlanta, Birmingham, and Mobile regions, as well as other regions as needed.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to sales (NAS and EESS), channel partners, reps/agencies, end users, subject matter experts, and District Operating Center teams for developing technical and commercial proposals across industrial, commercial, government, and utility segments.
  • Analyze detailed project specifications; leads pricing development; prepares construction estimates and subcontractor scopes of work; engages third-party vendors.
  • Support engineering services sales growth by providing application assistance for complex proposals, including large turnkey projects.
  • Develop unique solutions beyond standard specifications to increase customer value and incorporates lessons learned to enhance solution and pricing strategies.
  • Assist Eaton equipment application engineers in influencing customer and consultant specifications; distributes Eaton Standard Specifications to consultants and end-users.
  • Lead and support project hand-off activities; captures additional scope items beyond original specifications.
  • Contribute to the digital development and standardization of pricing models, quotation tools, and processes to improve proposal efficiency and customer service.
  • Visit job sites with Eaton field service personnel and/or sales to enhance understanding of Eaton products, field activities, and solution development.
  • Conduct and lead customer presentations through joint visits with sales channels; educates and promotes the engineering services product and solution portfolio.
  • Travel up to 25% to support regional and national initiatives.
  • Support division initiatives such as Service Attachment Orders for New Equipment, power system engineering, digital integration solutions, aftermarket solutions, extended warranty programs, and electrical worker training.
  • Track and report monthly proposal activities.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and industry organizations.
  • Complete all required and recommended product trainings, Eaton University courses, and safety trainings.
  • Mentor junior team members while also seeking learning opportunities from peers.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all stakeholders; commits extra time as needed to meet customer and project deadlines.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR military experience OR equivalent field service experience in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum of 4 years electrical contractor estimating / proposal writing experience or field service experience.
  • No relocation is offered for this position. Candidate must reside within a 50 mile radius of locations listed in job description to be considered. Active duty military candidates are exempt from this requirement
  • Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Power distribution field experience in servicing, maintaining, and testing electrical power distribution equipment.
    Working knowledge of pricing and proposal generation in the electrical industry (both private sector and government bids).
  • Demonstrated ability in verbal and written communication skills. Particular skill in communicating technical information to non-technical personnel, educating customers, and presenting information to internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; preferred experience with GSA purchasing procedures; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance.
  • Experience with risk evaluation and risk management.
  • NETA or IEEE Member
  • Professional Engineer registration.
