Eaton's ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer. This is a hybrid role based out of our Houston, TX facility. Relocation is not provided for this position.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for development and execution of customer-centric solutions for NEC markets. This role requires strong communication skills, ambition, drive, and extensive engineering experience, along with enthusiasm for product design. Responsibilities include designing to special customer requests through Engineered to Order (ETO) product designs, providing manufacturing support for manufacture of ETO designs, and offering technical leadership for ongoing customer inquiries. Reporting to the ETO Engineering Manager, you will independently develop and direct a broad range of product design projects, assuming responsibility for all technical project activities, including high-level product design elements.

In this function you will:

  • Prepare product proposals and documentation in response to field sales, distributor and customer inquiries for special products.
  • Helps coordinate bid process with Supervisor, Marketing and Field Sales where necessary, to ensure profitability, business unit capability and adequate levels of customer service.
  • Create all necessary documentation for manufacture, costing, customer approvals and installation, including but not limited to assembly drawings, schematics, bills of material, etc.
  • Work with customers, Customer Service, Operations, Sourcing and vendors, and Field Sales to meet technical and scheduling requirements, at lowest cost to the division.
  • Utilize high level design and analysis that ensures proper evaluation of the viability of a project before detailed design work begins and during the complete course of the project. Initial analysis may include a thorough evaluation of competitive products, code and certification compliance, technologies, patents, production costs, DFA and field reliability.
  • Consult with Product Line managers on new alternatives to satisfy customer inquiries, and to share modifications and ideas concerning existing products to consider for new offerings.
  • Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs which can be produced by existing components from internal and external sources and with engineered modifications. Creates product specifications based on customer and Marketing requirements.
  • Communicate with all departments to ensure that correct engineering documentation is available and in use in the manufacture of the respective products.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, to meet quick, market-specified turnaround times.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or related Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience working in or interfacing with a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience with ERP & PLM - SAP and Enovia are preferred.
  • Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Houston, TX to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with design of mechanical parts that are manufactured with, sandcasting, die casting, metal stamping, and other machining processes.
  • Solidworks 3D CAD, AutoCAD 2D, SAP ERP, Enovia
  • Experience with 3rd party certification requirements
  • Experience with Industrial controls and electrical products/circuit protection; Knowledge of UL/NEMA/NEC Standards, particularly in
  • Power Distribution & Controls (e.g. 50/50E, 508/508A, 1203, 67)
  • Experience with 3rd party certification requirements, particularly for Industrial and Harsh & Hazardous Locations (e.g. UL/CSA/ATEX)
