What you'll do:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer designs, analyses, tests, and supports Wiring Devices products, collaborating with global teams to meet quality, safety, and reliability standards while optimizing cost and manufacturability.
Serving as the project technical lead, this role works with regional and global project teams and coordinates with MFG/SCM/QA on manufacturability reviews, lifecycle management, and process improvements to ensure efficient, high-quality mass production.

1. Participate in product development teams as a technical expert to independently design, analyze, modify, or optimize wiring devices products, ensuring alignment with cost, performance, and schedule objectives. Additionally, support the resolution of production challenges and facilitate other necessary product design modifications.
2. Serve as the technical lead for various projects, including new product development, cost optimization, and strategic procurement/manufacturing projects (OEM, ODM, STP). Main responsibilities include product design, analysis and optimization, establishing design specifications and test requirements, organizing design reviews and manufacturability assessments, ensuring products meet cost, performance, and schedule targets at each stage.
3. Work closely with the manufacturing team, responsible for new product introduction to manufacturing, small batch trial verification, parts production and assembly process review, ensuring smooth transition to mass production, and supporting continuous improvement of production efficiency and quality.
3. Create test plans per UL regulations and internal standards, conduct or oversee testing, write reports, and support lab improvements.
4. Apply engineering expertise in mold development, modification, production processes, and automation to effectively resolve technical challenges related to mold design, manufacturing, and assembly /automation operations.
5. Collaborate with cross function teams, engaging with manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing, laboratory technicians, and external suppliers to drive project advancement and ensure proactive communication with all project stakeholders.
6. Maintain clear and well-organized communication and documentation to effectively report project status updates, address technical challenges, and present design evaluations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
Over 5 years of mechanical design experience with expertise in CAD software (Pro/E Preferred); adept at managing large assemblies (100+ components).

In-depth knowledge of Wiring Devices and low voltage products, including switches, receptacles, and GFCIs, with a strong grasp of industry trends.
Solid understanding of UL and/or IEC design requirements for wiring devices.
Experienced in new product introduction processes.
Familiar with design for manufacturability, PPAP process, FMEA, and control plans.
Comprehensive expertise in production part processes: plastic forming, molding, casting, sheet-metal fabrication, process flow optimization, automation, and advanced manufacturing methods
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of piece-part prototyping methods relevant to design processes.
Capable of independently conceptualizing designs, optimizing products, and evaluating as well as developing various design and manufacturing methods to improve efficiency or reduce costs.
Proficient in English language skills.
Experienced in engineering document control and managing product documentation revisions using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, such as SAP, Enovia.
Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) / Lean Six Sigma is a plus.Excellent teamwork and communication skills, able to collaborate efficiently with cross function team

Outstanding organizational and documentation skills, both project and technical aspects.
Strong multi-tasking abilities.
Willingness to travel.
