The Senior Manufacturing Engineer provides support to manufacturing of forging products. Including but not limited to forging process day to day, equipment uptime, process improvements, or new product. Leads collaborative teams on projects to achieve plant goals in Safety, Productivity, and Quality. Working alongside engineers and customers on new product designs and documentation. From initial quoting phases to complete implementation. Help guide and lead the plant to be a leader in our market.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80,300.00-$117,700.00 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

Provide impactful support to manufacturing and the forging of products. Support includes but not limited to daily forging processes, you will also be heavily utilized in driving efficiency improvements, and new product initiatives. Responsibilities include leading collaborative cross-functional teams on projects to achieve plant metrics (safety, productivity, quality, ect...). You will also collaborate with corporate engineers and customers on new product designs and documentation from start to finish.   • Provide Engineering support for all forging production lines and supporting equipment and processes. Identify process inefficiencies and formulate comprehensive data driven business cases to address these. Utilizes Management of Change to ensure all systems are reviewed and updated with all project improvement changes.
  • Create new forging designs and process documentation to corporate or customer guide lines. Work with international team to review and release designs.
  • Lead internal projects from initiation phase through installation & startup, including resource management, machine purchases, machine runoffs, and operator/maintenance training. Work with the Maintenance, Quality and Tool & die departments to improve machine reliability/reduce downtime and define equipment maintenance requirements. Machine FMEAs and Process FMEAs.
  • Oversee external vendors to create methods/process to improve capacities with production, workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Partners with the Quality function to provide support for automated data collection and analysis activities. Understands application of SPC and gage R&R.
  • Apply Eaton MESH regulations to ensure engineering projects are launched safely.

Qualifications:

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
  • Relocation benefits area available for those within the United States willing to relocate to the South Bend, IN area. Candidates within a 50-mile radius of South Bend, IN will also be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in in Mechanical, Industrial, or manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university
  • 8+ years' experience in manufacturing
  • 5+ years experience of engineering experience.
  • Prior experience in Forge tooling design
  • Prior experience with FEM software
  • Prior project management experience
  • Proficiency in Creo or Pro/E
  • Six Sigma Experience
  • Knowledge of machining and previous use of mills, lathes, presses, and grinders

Skills:

  • Ability to perform work with little or no direct supervision
  • Excellent analytical problem solving and facilitation skills
  • Results oriented candidate that can drive the necessary activities to get things accomplish
  • Ability to lead and work cross functionally
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
