Quality Manager

Eaton's IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a Quality Manager.

What you'll do:

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
1) Drive continuous improvement in quality and customer satisfaction through VGNA Process.
2) Directs the development and implementation of the plant's quality control program. Insures that policies and procedures regarding all aspects of quality assurance and improvement are rigidly adhered to during all manufacturing processes. Includes assignments associated with developing and maintaining total quality systems as well as achieving formal certifications as required (EBEA, ISO/TS).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Develops policies and procedures to fulfill with customer requirements.
2. Promotes, Improves, and develops the Quality management system of the business.
3. Reviews, verifies, and approves 8D's to ensure effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions for customer and internal quality issues.
4. Promotes and coordinates the excellence in the operations through the lead of quality strategies and initiatives.
5. Obtains the testing equipment that is required for the correct inspection and provides training to all departments.
6. Manages and directs QMS, SQE and Laboratories quality personnel. Resolve performance problems with subordinates. Develop functional and competency skills of the quality department personnel and improve the team productivity.
7. Ensures Flawless product launches through adherence to APQP process by Supporting Championship of PROLaunch process follow up at Plant Level.
8. Identifies cost out opportunities and work with Operational Excellence department to execute cost out projects.
9. Offers support to manufacturing, analyzing the line rejections and leading efforts to identify and implement projects to reduce PPM's and internal rejections.
10. Assure the implementation of projects owned by Value Stream Structure when the customer returns require formal corrective actions
11. Develop a thorough understanding of the Eaton Business System with expertise in the tools related to Quality (e.g. - Corporate Quality Policy, Ethics, Vision, Mission, Values, Philosophy, Organizational Capability Assessment, and Corporate Accounts). Appropriate levels of this knowledge must be transferred to all subordinates as part of their personal development.
12. Act as a role model following MESH and Safety procedures accordingly, motivates and engage the Quality team with safety initiatives and respect to the Live Saving rules
13. Lead Continuous Improvement activities in the Quality dept. through the deployment and utilization of Eaton Business System policies and processes, such as ELSS. CIF, PRO-Launch, EQS, MESH and others as applicable
14. Active involvement in plant initiatives and execution of plans to improve both ME and EE based in employee survey results.
15. Analyze key organizational quality metrics related to the Balanced Scorecard (e.g. - Customer Returns DPPM, Internal Quality, Scrap, Warranty, Cost of Nonconformance, and Supplier Quality) and perform periodic reviews to evaluate results and establish action plans to close the gaps at an operational level.

Additional Information:

16. Provide support to the Supply Chain Management organization relative to Supplier Quality activities of the operation as well as provide Quality interface, expertise and support to the organization's suppliers and partners. This includes the feedback of supplier performance to suppliers and the Division.
17. Lead the internal Quality System Audit program for the organization and manage the corrective action system in conjunction with the management review process.
18. Manage / Support the performance and provide career development opportunities to all the employees within the quality function of the organization. This includes the development and implementation of training programs to build "bench strength" in the organization.
19. Ensures organizational readiness for customer, regulatory, and other third-party assessments related to the QMS
20. Deploy Eaton Business System tools, where appropriate or required, to improve Quality Management System effectiveness (i.e. OPA, EQS, ELSS, WISPER, MESH, etc.).
21. Directs analytical problem solving and creativity/innovation to improve key business drivers.
22. Leads in the capital planning process to improve overall capability and efficiency in the plant.
23. Support and drive full compliance with Eaton Business Excellence, Eaton Lean Six Sigma criteria, MESH & Continuous improvement initiatives.
24. Review and execute competitive, long- and short-term business plans.
25. Develop and communicate initiatives to measure and improve key business drivers (i.e., customer satisfaction, growth, profitability and asset management, quality, excellence through people).

26. Builds organizational capabilities to support a high-performance culture through mentoring and developing team members.
27. Develop and implement plans to enhance the quality of work life within the plant by assuring that open channels of communication exist with employees; participative employee teams are cultivated and trained; and clean, safe working conditions are maintained.
28. Demonstrate the application of the 8 CIF modules and support related initiatives on daily basis through establishing, maintaining and complying his/her Standard Work and other tools. Participate in Kaizen events, Lean Council and Continuous Improvement teams when required. Generate ideas for improvement according with the local programs. Implement and optimize Lean Management tools. Sustain the ELLS tools (VSM, 5's, TPM, STW, Set up, Problem Solving, Materials Management and 6 Sigma) to drive the continuous improvement performance when apply

Qualifications:

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
1) Bachelor's degree in Technical field.
2) Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years in Quality, Manufacturing or Project Management environment.
3) Knowledge of manufacturing process and systems, general knowledge of MRP / ERP systems and their relationship to lean deployment and operational excellence.
4) Strong analytical skills and understanding of problem-solving tools / methods (Six Sigma, 8D, or other)
5) Bilingual (Spanish / English)
6) Strong interpersonal skill with proven ability to lead change.
7) Working knowledge of engineering, manufacturing, materials/purchasing and quality assurance methods and practices.
8) Strong financial acumen with knowledge of capital equipment analysis, cost accounting, budgeting, project cost analysis and long-term maintenance analysis
9) Proven ability to think strategically
10) Knowledge of manufacturing and engineering processes (PROLaunch / APQP, TS16949)
11) Preferred:
a. Six Sigma, ASQC, Lean, Project Management Certification
b. Advanced degree in engineering discipline from an accredited institution
c. Ability to drive change and successfully lead and implement organizational change activities

Attachment: Detailed Responsibilities

1.Drives and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
2.Accomplish with MESH requirements: EHS programs, waste requirements, training, inspections, etc.3.
Participate EHS Gemba Walks / Inspections / Programs
4.Creates and facilitates EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
5.Submit Kaizen Burst ideas to Improve Safety
6.Lead a team to evaluate and rank the plant's top ergonomic risks
7.EHS Cost Out & Avoidance: Hazardous waste, Non HW, Water consumption, energy savings, etc
8.Incorporate EHS into LEAN (VSM, 5S, TPM, etc)
9.Work with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
10.Identify and Direct Lean EHS Project
11.Completion of Root Cause Analysis & CAPA for significant injuries/illnesses/ EHS incidents
