Project Manager - Operations
Eaton's ES GEIS division is currently seeking a Facilities Engineer. This role is onsite at either our Highland, IL or Troy, IL facilities. Relocation is not provided for this position.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Project Manager - Operations, is responsible for the planning and execution of assigned facilities and manufacturing transformation projects within the GEIS business. This role focuses on delivering projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and operational requirements. The Project Manager applies standard project management practices to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage schedules, track costs, mitigate risks, and ensure smooth execution with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. This role works closely with operations, engineering, supply chain, EHS, and external partners to ensure project objectives are met and transition to operations is seamless.
What you'll do:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Project Planning & Execution
• Plan and execute assigned facilities and manufacturing transformation projects, ensuring adherence to defined scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and execution strategies aligned with program-level objectives.
• Track project progress and take corrective actions to address variances and execution risks.
Manufacturing Line & Equipment Moves
• Coordinate execution of manufacturing line, equipment, and material flow relocations, including move sequencing, shutdown windows, and restart activities.
• Support equipment disassembly, transport, installation, and re-qualification in partnership with engineering and operations teams.
• Ensure minimal impact to production, customer deliveries, and safety during move activities.
• Support new site build-out or closures, including facilities readiness, equipment installation / decommissioning, and operational handoff.
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Coordinate day-to-day execution across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, IT, Quality, EHS, Finance, HR, and external contractors.
• Manage dependencies and resolve execution issues through collaboration and escalation as needed.
• Participate in regular project and program reviews, providing accurate status updates and risk assessments.

Cost, Schedule & Risk Management
• Track project costs, purchase orders, and capital expenditures against approved budgets.
• Identify execution risks and implement mitigation actions to protect timeline, cost, and safety outcomes.
• Maintain project documentation, schedules, and change control records.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
• Ensure all project activities are planned and executed in accordance with EHS requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
• Support permit requirements, contractor safety compliance, and pre-task risk assessments.
• Verify readiness for operational handoff through inspections, checklists, and completion documentation.
Communication & Reporting
• Provide clear and timely project status reports, including schedule updates, cost performance, risks, and issues.
• Communicate effectively with plant leadership and functional stakeholders to align execution activities.
• Support stakeholder change communications related to project execution and operational transitions.
Continuous Improvement & PM Discipline
• Apply Eaton and GEIS project management tools, templates, and best practices.

Qualifications:
Basic (Required) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience with progressive levels of accountability and responsibility in Manufacturing, Operations, Continuous Improvement, and/or Manufacturing Engineering within a manufacturing environment.

- No relocation is offered for this position. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Highland, IL OR Troy, IL to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong project management skills with experience leading large-scale facility transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of machining processes, CNC equipment, casting methods, metallurgy, Plastic molding, foundry operations, and finishing processes (e.g. plating, painting, coatings and burnishing).
- Ability to develop and manage capital expenditure (CapEx) projects.
- Technical degree
