Eaton's IS AER MSD is currently seeking a Product Support Structural Sr. Engineer in Davenport, IA. This is a hybrid role.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year.

What you'll do:
This position is responsible for applying structural engineering principles to support sustaining activities of aerospace products.
The individual will lead the review and approval of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) in support of the Change Control Board (CCB) and Non-Conformances (NCs) in support of Material Review Board (MRB).

Critical skills include mechanical engineering design, hand calculations for stress/structural analysis, and the determination and identification of specific higher fidelity analysis needs. This person will disposition the ECNs and NCs from a structural perspective and have full signoff authority in this role. A focus on airworthiness, manufacturability, and cost considerations should be taken into account when reviewing the proposed revisions to engineering documentation (drawings, test plans, process specifications, etc.).
These aerospace product lines are diverse and include air to air refueling, environmental oxygen systems, and nitrogen fuel tank inerting. This engineer will be expected to support and attend all CCBs and MRBs for these product lines.
Essential Functions:
• Reviewing non-conformances and (with the help of a team) devising repairs or scrap justifications.
• Understanding of airworthiness, safety, and quality for the end-items which are affected by the non-conformances.
• Experience manipulating and accessing CAD data from SOLIDWORKS 3D, CREO or similar tools. Experience conducting stress analysis at various levels of fidelity.
• Ability to identify and define specific higher-level fidelity analysis as needed to initiate larger more in-depth investigations.
• Understanding of 14 CFR 21 as it pertains to type design changes is ultimately necessary to guide the repair principles for non-conformances as well as sustaining engineering activities
• Documenting the process and creating a central repository of lessons learned from the evaluation of NCs and ECs for training development and standard work creation
• Collaboration directly with product teams and be able to quickly adapt and turn around requests from the CCB and MRB.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum five (5) years of Engineering experience conducting mechanical design of components in a manufacturing/production environment
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 70-mile radius of Davenport will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 7-10 years Mechanical Engineering Design Experience in manufacturing/production environment
• 5 years direct experience supporting MRB and CCB
• Experience with ANSYS Mechanical and NASTRAN
• Knowledge of industry-relevant specifications and their applicability is necessary to be successful in this role. (E.g., BAC, AS/NAS, ASME, etc. specs)
• Experience implementing 14 CFR 21 as it pertains to type design changes
• Experience with Windchill PDM would be beneficial as well as Creo, CATIA, strong proficiency with Excel, and familiarity with ANSYS Mechanical
• Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt certification or ability to complete within 1 year
