Power Electronics Engineer
Eaton's Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division is currently seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. This position will be a hybrid office (3x2) role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. Relocation benefits and sponsorship will be provided within the United States only.
Eaton's Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division designs, manufactures, and services Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, batteries, and electronic-based products to ensure power reliability in the most demanding applications. As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer you will support our product development and design of our high-power three-phase UPS's. This role also supports products in our Energy Storage and EV charging product lines. The role includes all aspects of product design life cycle from concept to production as part of a global, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team. The expected annual salary range for this role is $88,499 - $129,799 a year.

What you'll do:
- Successfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton safety, quality, reliability, cost and schedule commitments.
- Work with cross-functional engineering team to design and develop new products including SiC three-phase UPS's from 20kW to 2.5MW and Lithium Ion 1MW and larger energy storage systems for maintaining critical loads such as datacenters and hospitals.
- Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality and component availability.
- Support product DVT and validation testing in the lab with a team of engineers and technicians.
- Support prototype build, testing and delivery of products to the customer.
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum three (3) years work experience in power electronic circuit design OR a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year work experience in power electronic circuit design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience with Inverter theory/knowledge, knowledge battery systems and protective devices including power distribution.
- Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power electronics, and power conversion topologies.
Position Criteria:
- Passion for learning, growing, and working in a collaborative team environment.
- Experience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics systems.
- Understanding of Magnetics Design for high frequency Power Electronics.
- Ability to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems.
- Competent with Matlab/Simulink/PLECS and PSPICE.
- Analyze and simulate power electronics systems from board level to complex products.
- Familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc.
- Understanding of layout design principles.
- Work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical.
- Excellent verbal/ written communications.
- Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements.
- Familiarity with common tools and methods to work in high power lab (480V) environment, oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters.
