PDCA - Customer Quality Technician

Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a PDCA - Customer Quality Technician at 7800 Trade Center Avenue in El Paso, TX. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In this role you will execute and support coordination of the Quality Control functions and related quality assurance activities for products manufactured and assembled by the plant; plan and manage quality control activities to ensure the conformance of manufactured products/equipment with customer specifications and their unique product performance requirements; maintain frequent contacts with customers to resolve product warranty problems; oversee customer quality relations programs; and visit customer locations or equipment installations on-site to provide information about company equipment and to effectively mediate issues related to customer satisfaction and to oversee the correction of equipment problems.

The rate for this position is $29.00 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations.

What you'll do:

In this role:

  • Support production manufacturing with problem solving, process improvements and resolution to manufacturability issues.
  • Lead cross functional teams in problem solving and issue analysis in an effort to address either Scrap, customer or production related issues.
  • Work in partnership with engineering to support all development projects and milestones related to Quality and improve the overall process.
  • Support ISO 9001 quality system and supports the implementation and management of the site quality system and procedures.
  • Identify gaps at the plant level and execute improvement activities. Execute or facilitate all aspects of APQP and Part Approval, support revisions of process control documents such as pFMEAs, Control Plans, VOPs and other quality tools to ensure compliance.
  • Drive actions with statistical analysis and process capability (Cpk, Ppk) where necessary to improve performance or product quality.
  • Support supplier PPAP submissions including control plans and assists with control plan creation where necessary.
  • Work with Design Engineering, Marketing and Supply Chain to ensure that quality criteria are clearly identified on all newly established parts and communicated to suppliers.
  • Support customer complaints (Internal-External) related to the facility and for tracking, monitoring and initiating Corrective Actions.
  • Lead the plant's zero-defect initiative while driving efforts to improve quality trends and to reduce costs associated with rework, scrap and warranty claims in line with Divisional goals.
  • Utilize a working knowledge of ISO 9001 and Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS) requirements to maintain an effective Quality Management System.
  • Maintains assigned Procedures and Systems to ensure continued compliance with the ISO-9001 international quality standard and EQMS.
  • Supports the maintenance and monitoring the plant's quality performance metrics.

Qualifications:

Basic REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year work experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Must be proficient in both verbal and written communication skills of English & Spanish
  • Proven ability to solve problems utilizing common problem-solving methodologies/tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, is/is not tables, pareto charts, control charts, etc.
  • Training and experience with quality assurance concepts, Error Proofing, Problem Solving, MSA's, Capability.
    Studies, PFMEA's, Control Plans, ISO 9001, dimensional analysis, auditing and Supplier Quality Management.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates living within the 50 mile radius of El Paso TX will be considerd. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, Electronics, Electromechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with transformers.
  • Quality Management System and Six Sigma knowledge.
  • Proven ability to write technical documents such as procedures and specifications.
  • ISO9001 or TS16949 Experience.
  • Good understanding of lean concepts, principles & tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Set-up Reduction, Pull Systems and Standardized Work.
  • Thorough knowledge of gauging and inspection techniques.
  • Proven ability to query and manipulate data using MS Excel, MS Access, Minitab, and/or other programs and transform the data into information.
