The overall purpose of the position.

Eaton Corporation, Electrical Sector Americas (ES-A) is seeking a Co-Op / Intern with focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning Methods (ML) applied to Model-Based Engineering . This position will be based in Raleigh, NC, and will report to our Technical Director of Model-Based Engineering (MBE).

This is a 1-year position. The role focuses on supporting our processes around the use of AI/ML tools in Model-Based Engineering. Key areas of involvement may include Co-pilot support tools and processes, Reduced Order Modeling with AI/ML, ML-Ops applied to controls and algorithm design, as well as other initiatives.

Recent graduates that meet the requirements are encouraged to apply. International students under OPT (Optional Practical Training) can also apply for this role.

Relocation support is not provided for this role. We will consider candidates that are willing to relocate to Raleigh or local applicants.

Although a full time hire after the internship is not guaranteed, this is a highly visible and impactful role well connected with our ES-A Model Based Engineering Strategy, that can lead to additional opportunities after the 1 year internship commitment.

Essential Functions
The essential functions that must be accomplished to fulfill the purpose of the position as described above.
• Data-Driven Reduced Order Modeling (ROM) with Machine Learning (ML);
• Evaluate Processes for Data-Driven Model ROMs: Implement and validate processes for creating datadriven ROMs using MathWorks and Modelica tools.
• Support on Evaluating and Creating Processes Around Co-pilot Tools for Model-Based Design and Embedded FW.
• Support Evaluation of MathWorks Co-pilot Tools: Evaluate the application of MathWorks Co-pilot tools in various use cases.
• Support Creation of MBD Processes for Embedded FW Deployment of ML Models: support includes model-based design (MBD) processes for deploying ML models in embedded firmware, including soft sensors and algorithms

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills:

Education:
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or adjacent fields from an accredited institution.
• A relevant master's or specialization in AI / ML is highly preferred.

Experience:
• Minimum 1 year experience with AI-ML projects. Undergraduate projects and / or Master Thesis also count on meeting the experience requirements.
• Any experience with the use of MathWorks tools, like MATLAB and or Simulink are desired.

• Effective Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with crossfunctional teams, convey technical concepts, and provide updates to stakeholders.
• Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work well within a team environment, contributing to discussions, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a collaborative atmosphere.
• Project Ownership: Demonstrated accountability and ownership of projects from conception to delivery, ensuring that deadlines are met, and deliverables align with business goals.
