Eaton's Electrical Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure division is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position will be a hybrid office (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. Relocation benefits and sponsorship will be provided within the United States only.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $67,500 - $99,000 a year.

What you'll do:
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the mechanical design and development of product lines, contributing to project design, development, and prototype production. This role is essential in a cross-functional team, making key design decisions for integration. The Mechanical Engineer researches, evaluates, and documents design methods to meet standards and codes, and supports management throughout development.
In this role you will:
- Successfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton safety, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule commitments.
- Work with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and create mechanical systems considering space, manufacturing, service, thermal, and other design considerations.
- Leverage your skill and experience by giving guidance to other technical project team members and review other team members designs and provide feedback.
- Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality, and component availability.
- Develop and support building of engineering and validation prototypes as well as support manufacturing personnel during launch process.
- Leverage in-depth knowledge of industry design principles around sheet metal, plastics, and other manufacturing methods
- Exceptional problem-solving skills working to design and layout systems while engaging cross functional teams to identify optimal layout while balancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and long-term serviceability.
- Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.
- Work closely with regulatory experts to ensure design meet UL and other certification body requirements
- Identify opportunities for process, tools, and test methodology improvements, and drive those from concept to implementation.

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum six (6) months experience in a mechanical engineering role (Internship/school projects included)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience developing large scale power electronics from concept to manufacturing launch.
- Experience with power distribution system design and protection.
- Experience working with multi-kW lithium ion energy storage systems including battery management and products designed for outdoor or non-climate controlled environments.
- In depth knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) techniques
