Eaton is looking for a Lead Engineer to join the corporate Eaton Research Labs at the Eaton European Innovation Center in Prague, Czech Republic.
This position will contribute to the research and development in the field of power electronics and drive technology advancement in the areas of solid state circuit breakers, resonant converters, solid state transformers and electric drives. Main applications of our technologies are in the electrification of transport, energy conversion and storage, alternative power generation and distribution. We are looking for candidates who want to push the technological limits and are not afraid of designing and testing mega-watt power range.
Eaton Research Labs department is highly focused on the development of new technologies for future Eaton products. We design, test and evaluate novel concepts of power electronics circuits for a various industrial and transport applications. Together with your colleagues from different technology fields, you will be the pioneer of new technology products and opportunities for the entire corporate. You will join an international team of highly experienced engineers and utilize your technical excellence to lead projects and teams towards innovative solutions through design concept and simulations, circuit design and components selection, development and testing of power electronics evaluation boards."

The successful candidate will create emerging power conversion & power system solutions based on breakthrough technologies for industrial, automotive, truck, and aerospace applications. The team works on state-of-the-art electronics and identifies and develops commercialization opportunities with diverse Eaton businesses.
The typical agenda and responsibilities include:
- Lead power electronics research project, design and development activities at TRL1-5
- Demonstrate ownership for the assigned projects and tasks, plan and coordinate to ensure milestones success by employing cross-functional teams
- Perform modeling, simulation, PE and PCB design and validation of electronics circuits
- Collect and analyze data to optimize designs to meet performance, size, manufacturability, reliability or costs targets
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, thermal, and firmware engineers to successfully design and validate the design
- Create technical reports and presentations for both internal and external stakeholders
- Support team and provide technical support to junior colleagues, work with external contributors (business divisions, universities and customers)
- Develop evaluation PCBs and related hardware
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for project execution in the region as well as collaboration on global tasks with teams in the US and China.
We would like you to know:
- Msc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in power electronics and electronics design
- Strong understanding of circuit theory, knowledge of power electronic components based on silicon, SiC or GaN, power electronics circuits
- Demonstrated experience in designing cutting-edge electronics in one or more of the following areas: DC/DC or AC/DC converter, DC/AC inverter, charger, Solid State Circuit Breaker, or motor drive
- Knowledge of PCB design for power electronics, testing and debugging
- Modeling and simulation of power circuits (Matlab, Plecs, Altium, Eagle, Spice)
- Demonstrated Project Management skills welcome
- Innovative and self-motivated professional with good presentation skills
- English oral and written, German and Czech would be an advantage
- Willing to learn new skills, knowledge, industry, or products"
