Job Summary

"The product engineer NPI/NPD is responsible for leading the introduction / development of new products from concept to market launch within the Latin America region, while also managing and supervising engineering activities. This role ensures that new products and engineered solutions meet customer requirements, comply with quality standards, and align with Eaton's business objectives.
While collaborating with cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, manufacturing, sales, finance and supply chain, to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions on time and within budget. Additionally, it will oversees engineering operations related to Medium and Low Voltage Assemblies (LV Switchboard / CCM, MV Solutions, Transformers, and IPA/Electro Centers), UPSs, among other products, ensuring technical excellence and project execution.
Job Responsibilities
Lead the New Product Introduction / Development (NPI/NPD) process from concept to market launch, ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, marketing, sales, finance, manufacturing, supply chain) to define specifications and deliver cost-effective solutions.
Manage engineering activities, including technical analysis of customer and market requirements, drawings, and partner proposals.
Oversee project management: timelines, pilot builds, testing, and on-site execution, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
Supervise engineering teams, including staffing, work assignments, and performance reviews.
Coordinate with intercompany and local partners for production and testing.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies."
Qualifications:
Mandatory requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
(Other degrees in Engineering may be considered if the candidate has a specialization and relevant experience in electrical engineering.) - Minimum of 3 years of experience on the job in product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or NPI/NPD (New Product Introduction and Development) roles.
- Experience in power management, electrical products, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA).
- Experience in market analysis, business case development, and ROI evaluation.
- Advanced English proficiency - ability to communicate effectively and produce technical documentation.

Desirable Qualifications
- Proficiency in CAD/SolidWorks software and engineering documentation.
- Experience with DFM (Design for Manufacturing) / DFA (Design for Assembly) principles and tools.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Spanish language skills.
- Portuguese language skills.
- Knowledge of electrical standards and regulatory compliance, including NEMA, IEC, UL, NOM, and LATAM-specific regulations and certifications (e.g., RETIE).
- Experience in laboratory testing aligned with the above standards.
