What you'll do:

The responsibilities of this role include leading the design and development projects for Aerospace MSD (Mission System Division) to meet the requirements including safety, reliability, and compliance. The role is responsible for successful leading and execution of projects requiring pneumatic and mechanical systems / component knowledge, including NTI, NPI, B&P and Sustaining Engineering. Should have experience leading a team through all stages of the product development cycle. Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives and the ability to learn new techniques and development processes. We are looking for candidates who are able to see the bigger picture; strength in a system-level viewpoint is a must. Guide and mentor design team for concept, detailed design and prototype & testing activities. Candidate should have thorough understanding of Aerospace standards like MIL-P-8564D, NASA-STD-6016, DO-178, DO-254,MIL-STD-810, SAE ARP 4754/4761 etc

The candidate in this position will be responsible to:

• Lead design & development of Mission systems products at system/ sub-system level as per customer requirements
• Manage customer requirements, concept design/selection, detail design, analysis & design validation - product testing and qualification while ensuring compliance to Aerospace standards (ITAR, EAR 9x515, EAR 9x604, etc).
• Prepare and manage schedules, NRE (Non recurring engineering estimates), risk management; good communication and presentation skills - both verbal and written with an ability to make necessary status reports and technical presentations to Eaton management and global stakeholders.
• Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
• Provide manufacturability perspective for early concepts and help validate through building appropriate designs. Assist with building prototypes that help in proof of concept and work with external vendors/suppliers.
• Collaborate with SCM to develop ecosystem in India for prototype and testing capabilities
• Plan and manage development work to achieve on-time delivery of NPI, NTI, features and enhancements.
• Coordinate and collaborate with product owners and systems, Design, simulation, Reliability and manufacturing development teams to produce engineering designs and specifications for new features and enhancements.
• Risk management and mitigation
• Mentor and coach less experienced members of the team in all aspects of GD&T, manufacturing, assembly etc.
• Generate ideas and innovative solutions which will provide competitive edge to business products.
• Develop design guidelines, best practices and lessons learnt documents and shares with peers and team.
• Active communication with the cross functional team to ensure schedule, cost and performance alignment
• Performs quality checks to ensure designs meet Eaton and customer standards / requirements. Should have working experience with Aerospace Products & Standards
• In-depth know-how of digital tools and capabilities including but not limited to - Python Programming, Advance Excel, PowerBI, VB and/or similar equivalent etc. to drive digitalization strategies and technical/functional productivity areas would be required.

Qualifications:

1. B.E/B.Tech or ME/M.tech in Mechanical / Aerospace and related engineering areas

2. Master's degree - 10+ years or Bachelor's degree - 12+ years experience in product design & development in Aerospace industry

Skills:

  1. NPI / NPD, DfX tools, Pneumatic design, 3D modeling and drawings, GD&T, Tolerance stackup, Engineering design calculations, Risk analysis & assessment (DFMEA), DMAIC
  2. Experience leading a team through all stages of the product development cycle
  3. Solve problems and make design recommendations
  4. Extensive experience with product design, prototyping, testing, agile methodologies
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills,Problem solving skills,Working in ambuiguity, process management
