Lead Design Engineer

Eaton's ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Lead Design Engineer. This role will support our growing facility in Hodges, SC. We are able to offer relocation assistance to qualified candidates within the United States.

As the Lead Design Engineer you will develop best-in-class products and features through product research, design, design validation, deployment, and maintenance in accordance with market needs. This role is also responsible for providing technical expertise on Low Voltage Busway Product line.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $108749.97 - $159499.96 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

  • Directly responsible for sustaining current products, developing new products via development projects.
  • Accountable for development and maintenance of detailed project schedules incorporating resource management, milestones, deliverables, and cross-functional engagement.
  • Manage PROLaunch process for new product introductions and standard transition processes for the site.
  • Involve in hiring, performance review and feedback discussions for the employees.
  • Define a roadmap to leverage Pune and Juarez resources and other infrastructure to expedite NPD projects execution.
  • Leverage Centers of Excellence for FEA simulation, reliability analysis and DfM and DfA teams in Pune.
  • Participate in technology and product road mapping and waterline activities for the product line.
  • Define a method for collecting voice of customer with sales and marketing.
  • Be a member of codes and standards committee and represent Busway.
  • Drive design for six sigma culture in the team.
  • Achieve Black belt in DFSS and mentor other team members for their six-sigma green belt.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor product features and capabilities.
  • Drive innovation culture within product line and help attorneys for tracking IP's (disclosures, patent first filing etc.)
  • Represent Eaton in various codes and standards committees on NEMA, UL, IEC etc.
  • Build/own Product Line Engineering processes for activities such as, ECRs, manufacturing deviations, ETPs, DVP&Rs, training, and design guides.
  • Assist product management with development of multi-generational product plans, VOC collection, technical guides, installation guides and NPI product scope.
  • Manage communications with Engineering teams in Pune, Juarez, AEs, and product management.
  • Be on the Decision Gate Committee for all NPI Gate reviews.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in design and manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt in DFSS.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in design and manufacturing processes.
  • Project Management experience.
