As Hardware Engineer based in Dubai, you will be an integral part of EMEA product development team, focusing on the electronics design and redesign required for low voltage switchgear and control relays. Your design will be required to fulfill both functional and non-functional requirements, product and company-specific standards, norms and directives (e.g., IEC, UL, Machinery directive). You will be responsible for all R&D aspects of industrial electronics hardware design, primarily focusing on modernizing existing products using contemporary approaches, newest parts, and tools for digital hardware design.
What you'll do:
- Conceptualize, specify, develop, and validate electronic/ PCBA designs for switching, breaking, protection, and control devices based on product standards and customer needs.
- Develop robust concepts and specifications aligned with customer requirements.
- Support effort planning for design and validation engineering tasks.
- Execute technical design and development tasks independently within distributed teams.
- Utilize appropriate tools and methods (e.g., simulation, Design For Six Sigma) throughout the design cycle and sustaining engineering tasks.
- Design, plan, set up, conduct, document, and review development tests
- Resolve electronic hardware design issues including EMC/ EMI measures and deliver optimal solutions regarding function, manufacturability, and cost.
- Support manufacturing from the development side during series production ramp-up.
- Provide and maintain complete engineering documentation using Eaton tools and systems.
- Support project issue resolution activities.
- Prepare and conduct technical reporting, product and technology reviews, technical risk management, and peer reviews.
- Act as an expert for functional aspects in product technology and provide technical support and guidance to other functions such as Product Management, Quality and Manufacturing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical and/or electronics engineering, or similar departments
- Minimum 3+ years' experience in electronic hardware development and product industrialization
- Proven experience in analog and digital design.
- Knowledge of implementation of embedded microprocessors in design.
- Experience in electronic circuit simulation.
Skills:
- In-depth experience in designing modules, products, and systems.
- Hands-on experience with fast prototyping, laboratory testing and HW troubleshooting (e.g. Power up, EMC/ EMI tests)
- Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma methods.
- Experience with PCB design and EMS/PCB manufacturing documentation is a plus.
- Proficiency in hardware design tools like Mentor, Altium, Cadence, and Spice.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
