What you'll do:
- Support and execute Fixed Asset & Project Accounting strategy.
- This position is responsible for proactively monitoring & follow up of budgets and managing the financials, forecasts and reporting and corporate global programs for corporate capital initiatives with capital costs ranging up to and above $100M.
- A number of these programs are international, multi-faceted, and complex, so this position advises Finance, IT and senior management on the accounting treatment for non-routine capital expenses including both hardware products (tangibles), software (intangibles) & leases.
- The incumbent would work closely with the GFA teams, site & regional controllership teams.
- Providing accounting guidance and communicating with senior level management is a key part of this position. This role is critical to managing Eaton's general ledger for major capital projects by ensuring accurate and compliant project financials (i.e., cash flow, balance sheet and income statement).
- The PAFA COE Manager will oversee the Pune PAFA team, ensuring compliance with PAFA financial policies and internal control requirements.
- This role will lead a team of professionals, provide technical accounting guidance, and drive process improvements across the organization.
- The leader will act as a subject matter expert for fixed asset accounting, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational excellence.
- This position is based at our Kharadi, Pune location.

Qualifications:
Requirement:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business .
- 9-10 years experience in corporate or public accounting.
- Strong excel skills
- MBA, CA or CMA is preferred.
- Strong technical accounting expertise and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.Solid understanding of US GAAP and Eaton's financial policies
- Ability to understand, interpret and implement corporate policies and procedures to global capital projects providing guidance on accounting application to various levels of management.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and drive for results with a focus on accuracy / timeliness
- Strong professional presence, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills to effectively interact with and influence employees at all levels within the organization
- Strong knowledge in the creation of project budgets, the accounting close and forecast processes
- Strong analytical skills to calculate variances and determine the reason for the variances
- Knowledge of capital accounting and the ability to determine costs that qualify for capital versus expense. Lease accounting experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of foreign currency ledgers and the conversion to US currency
- Strong PC Skills: General ledger systems, Sub ledger systems PAFA, Excel
- Supervisory/management experience - both direct reports and project management
- Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities on a constant basis while maintaining a high standard of quality with parallel critical deadlines
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- When applicable, gathers and provides information related to capital project which are provided to the tax department for the year end accounting close and annual tax return.
- Obtains the necessary documentation requested and responds to internal and external audit questions timely on capital projects & leased assets managed within the PAFAL COE.
Skills:
- Proactively Monitor & follow up complex, global, multi-project CARs CIP from capital spend to capitalization to address items before they age.
- All costs pertaining to purchases, services, internal resources, and external consultant work are evaluated on the basis of prescribed accounting rules to determine the appropriate classification. The resulting conclusion and the basis for it are then explained to senior management.
- Reads and interprets complex, external contract proposals involving costs up to several million dollars to understand and determine if the work to be performed qualifies as capital or expense in compliance with accounting policy to ensure the proper accounting treatment.
- Responsible for understanding program/project initiatives to provide accounting guidance in creating CAR budgets and identifying costs as either capital or expense.
- Assist with creation and review of CAR documents prepared by project managers or other finance personnel and participates in the CAR review meetings with senior management.
- CAR documents include CAR Financials, CAR Narrative, CAR form and contractual agreements.
- Provide training and guidance to US and international finance and project managers on the monthly accounting, forecasting, and reporting for capital projects to ensure compliance with Eaton accounting policy and US GAAP.
- Hosts monthly meetings with project and finance managers reviewing project/program financials, Analyze project and program costs comparing actuals to the approved budget and forecast to explain variances, calculate monthly journal accrual entries, and forecast amounts for capital and expense.
- Assist with calculating the amount of capitalizable cost of GFA employee time reported on the GFA Time Tracker submitted for calculation monthly as well as for Subject Matter Experts as required.
- Prepares the documentation for asset capitalization of corporate software projects/programs to ensure assets are capitalized timely in the fixed asset system.
- Assists with the recommendation, development, and implementation of process improvements in PAFA and Lease CoE in support of corporate goals.
- Interacts with the Enterprise IT Finance group to help ensure processes are practiced consistently between the corporate teams.
- Assist project and program teams with forecasts and profit plans for capital projects to be included in the corporate forecasts and profit plans.
- Assists with mid-year and year-end ledger capital audit requests from Eaton's external auditors
