Engineering Manager, Power Quality Xi'an

Eaton's Electrical Sector is hiring an Engineering Head in ES Xi'an Site.

What you'll do:

This role leads Eaton's Power Quality R&D Center in Xi'an, overseeing the engineering team responsible for developing next-generation UPS technologies for the APAC market and selected global programs. As the global secondary power electronics design center, the role is accountable for Xi'an's technology roadmap, platform excellence, talent development, and collaboration with global design, COE, and product marketing teams.

Drive new global and regional product development initiatives, supporting approximately $500M in global sales and $100M in regional product sales across DPQ & CPS, with potential support for CPC, ELX, and PDSS.
Lead the development of new technologies to support business growth in emerging APAC markets.
Oversee selected platform development, deployment, and continuous optimization.
Manage the system engineering function, including system architecture definition and serving as the DFSS functional leader.
Deliver platforms and products as part of the global secondary power electronics design center for the Electrical Sector.
Build, coach, and develop a highly efficient and engaged engineering team at the Xi'an site.
Provide efficient and competitive technology solutions tailored to various market needs.
Cultivate a global power electronics talent pool by leveraging Xi'an's rich university and industry resources.

1. Strategic Leadership
- Translate global business objectives into a clear and actionable technology roadmap for the Xi'an site, securing stakeholder alignment and resource commitment.
- Own and execute the annual Xi'an engineering operating plan (budget, HC, CAPEX, and OPEX), while delivering on key performance indicators such as product cost, development cycle time, quality, and time-to-revenue.

2. Platform & Technology Development
- Lead the full lifecycle of power electronics platforms, from concept and virtual prototyping (HW & FW) to industrialization and ongoing cost/performance optimization.
- Champion the deployment of Eaton's DFSS methodology, simulation tools, and design standards across Xi'an teams; serve as the site's DFSS functional lead.
3.Global Collaboration
- Act as the primary interface between Xi'an and global CoE and Product Marketing teams, ensuring alignment on requirements, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Leverage global engineering resources to accelerate program timelines and enhance delivery efficiency.
4.People & Talent Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier talent in power electronics, firmware, and validation engineering; build robust succession plans and technical career pathways.
- Foster a high-performance culture through structured talent reviews, 1on1 coaching, merit-based recognition, and targeted training programs (both technical and soft skills).
5.Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish rigorous stage-gate review processes and KPI dashboards; lead root-cause analysis for any deviations in program execution or product quality.
- Institutionalize lessons-learned practices and promote best-practice sharing across global engineering sites.
6. Customer-Centric Focus
- Engage early with customers to influence specifications and drive spec-in opportunities.
- Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of customer issues, ensuring timely and effective closure.

Qualifications:

Bachelor or master degree
15+ years of experience in the power electronics field, with a strong track record in technology development and engineering leadership; at least 5 years of experience in engineering strategy and platform management, demonstrating the ability to drive innovation and operational excellence.
Preferred:
3-5 years of experience in the following areas:
Sales key account management
Product line management
System architecture design for data centers or renewable energy solutions

Managerial: Coach, plan, target setting, performance review, Good communication, Strategy thinking, Change management
Process: Pro-Launch, DFSS
