The hourly rate for this position is $22.15-$27.69 per hour.

What you'll do:

Job Summary
This Co-op position is in the Fuel Emissions & Powertrain Controls Engineering Product Line within Eaton's Mobility Group.

Job Responsibilities
This assignment requires the Intern to work under the guidance of our engineering team for various prototype and testing-related activities. An opportunity will be provided to the Intern to learn activities involving measuring and testing of our products from concept through validation. Job responsibilities include review of drawings and technical requirements, coordinating and performing pre-production build, testing, product analysis, and assist in trouble-shooting or design improvement recommendations for prototype designs. The Intern will have responsibility in creating and updating internal documentation and generating a variety of engineering and test reports. The Intern will also have an opportunity to participate in meetings with internal and external customers, potential suppliers, and cross-functional team members.

Functional Skill & Leadership Development Opportunities through this Assignment:
This Intern assignment provides an opportunity in product design and development in both existing and emerging technology for internal combustion, hybrid, and electrical vehicle applications. Important skills will be developed in the areas of product development, hands-on product testing, measurement systems, and data analysis.

Goals:

  • Support engineering team in writing Test Requests and Work Orders for testing and fabrication.
  • Set-up and operate measuring and test equipment as indicated in test requests.
  • Prepare samples and perform tests according to test procedures and instructions.
  • Collect and report data promptly and accurately, providing clear and detailed results using spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Perform operations and adjustments with various tools as required.
  • Create and update technical documentation such as procedures and standard work instructions.

Qualifications:

Required Basic Qualifications:

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior enrolled in an Engineering program from an accredited university (preferably Mechanical, Material Sciences, or Electrical).
  • Relocation is not offered for this position. Must reside within a 50 mile radius of Southfield, Michigan.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without Company sponsorship.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous internship or university project work experience a plus.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes. LabView and SolidWorks or other CAD is a plus.
