Eaton's Aerospace Group Mission Systems Division (MSD) has an opening for a Divisional Chief Engineer located in Davenport, IA or Orchard Park, NY. Relocation is available to either of these locations. Davenport or Orchard Park are the preferred locations, but remote work is available within the US. Travel is expected to be around 25% on average.

As Divisional Chief Engineer, you will report to the MSD Engineering Director. The primary function of this position is to provide strategic direction and technical subject matter expertise (SME) for the MSD product lines: Environmental, Actuation, and Air-to-Air Refueling.

In this role, you will serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME), setting your own strategy, direction, and priorities to lead your team toward achieving business results and driving division or regional improvements. You will provide technical solutions that leverage both established and personally developed technologies. Drawing on your broad strategic vision for MSD's future products and services, you will consult within your area of expertise. You will be involved in a wide variety of projects, conduct feasibility studies to ensure objectives are met within budget, and provide technical approvals and governance for programs. Additionally, you will manage external supplier relationships and work collaboratively across all business functions to identify challenges, create solutions, and drive them through to completion.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $141000.03 - $206800.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:

• Manage complex projects/programs involving multiple components for completeness, compatibility, and compliance. Ensure influence at the division level. Identify opportunities / connections within the company and technical associations that enhance business performance.
• Development and execution ownership of engineering technical roadmaps. Utilize domain expertise to drive innovation and technology roadmap activities aligned to customer needs
• Engineering technical role for Environmental, Actuation, and Air-to-Air Refueling products aligned to the MSD business growth objectives and the Aerospace group objectives. This Chief Engineer will act as subject matter expert with the flexibility to apply their expertise to different product lines within the aerospace division.
• Possess a broad strategic vision of the company's future products and services including ownership of the technology roadmaps
• Provide technical governance for the divisional engineering team and holding the site chief engineers, project leads and specialists accountable for robust design processes and methods aligned to the needs of the programs
• Generate technical solutions and has accountability for the integrity of design solutions on multiple programs including program technical and design reviews with key signatory approval.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
• Minimum 10 years of experience within aerospace or a high-tech industry with new product development and sustaining support.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical components and/or systems.
• You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible and considered for this position pursuant to applicable U.S. Federal Government contract requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Advanced Engineering degree from an accredited institution.
• 15 years of experience within aerospace industry with new product development and sustaining support - specific to Environmental aerial refueling or actuation systems
• System or sub-system development leadership within a highly complex mechanical system inclusive of electrical components
• Model Based Systems Engineering knowledge or implementation
• Key role in aerospace related professional organization
• DFSS Greenbelt or Blackbelt. If Greenbelt, progress on a development plan to Blackbelt is required
• DFSS Greenbelt with a development plan for Blackbelt certification.

Skills:

• Strong analytical skills covering multiple areas of engineering (mechanical design, test, project management, structural analysis, fluid analysis, electrical design).
• Strong communication and collaboration with engineers, engineering leadership, suppliers and customers.
• Ability to influence the organization without direct reporting relationship
• Ability to identify growth opportunities and champion them through the Ideation Process, Agile development of early technology development, and PROLaunch (Eaton's gate process for product development)
• Ability to interact with business and technology leaders
• High level of creativity and strategic thinking
• Ability to teach and employ DFSS tools and processes
• Ability to lead product investigations through 8D methodology
