Division Sales Engineer

Greenwood, SC

Eaton's Power Distribution Control & Assemblies division is currently seeking a Division Sales Engineer based out of our Greenwood, SC location. (Hybrid)

Relocation assistance will be provided.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $77,249 - $113,299 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program of 10%.

What you'll do:

The Division Sales Engineer's primary responsibility is to manage the assigned customer base to increase sales in the local marketplace and provide sales and technical assistance. You'll also sell assigned product lines to targeted customers in a targeted Market Area. The primary objective is to optimize sales volume, product mix, and profit margin.

Specific functions include driving an increase in sales in the marketplace, managing all aspects of the customer relationship, and providing sales and technical assistance to distributors, customers, end users, and specifiers. Develop a proven record of achieving assigned sales quotas. Prepare and present bids and quotations to customers using company price and delivery guidelines. Support total quality efforts by providing timely and accurate information for order entry, elevating quality issues to the attention of management. Ensure that accurate information flows to and from customers. Collect, analyze, and utilize market intelligence regarding competitors.

In this function, you will:

  • Establishes and maintains the highest possible commercial relations with present and potential customers by effectively employing skills with the art of salesmanship, application engineering, product knowledge, knowledge of customer's business and organization, and competitive products and activities.
  • Interprets incoming orders for proper content, price, compliance with terms and conditions, etc. prior to acceptance at the division.
  • Review customer project-specific plans and specifications and understand and interpret complex electrical and mechanical drawings to create a detailed bill of material and BidManager quotation package. This quotation package would consist of a competitive price level, lead-time cycle within factory guidelines and capacity, comments and exceptions to customer specifications and drawings, and BidManager power flow achieving an accurate representation of customer-requested product quote.
  • Coordinates with Customer Service to ensure resources are available to support customer commitments. Interprets incoming division quotations for proper content, price, etc. to meet the minimum customer requirements prior to final order clearing. Complete reporting database information and report negotiation status in a timely manner.
  • Establishes focus on quotation efforts to help ensure proper and timely quotation responses.
  • Advises as technical and commercial liaison and clearly communicates between sales reps, field sales, end users/customers, distributors and other product line functions such as engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, scheduling and management.
  • Recommends changes/modifications in products, policies, or procedures to improve productivity.
  • Maintains an active role in the formation and execution of sales plans through developing and evaluating competitive situations, reporting new product requirements, tracking negotiations and analyzing success/failure, developing accurate and timely monthly forecasts, and reporting industry and market trends.
  • Develops and presents or assists in the presentation of programs to promote the acceptance of products and/or services at customer locations, sales offices, trade shows, training seminars, and Corporate meetings.
  • Completes all requested reports in a professional and timely manner.
  • Coordinates special projects as needed within the product line

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years prior electrical sales experience; or related product experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Previous outside sales in electrical distribution products or switchgear experience
  • Previous Automatic Transfer Switch experience
