Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Custom Order Engineer. This is a hybrid role that requires 25% travel.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $83250.0 - $122100.0 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
What you'll do:
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Switchgear Modernization division of EESS designs and manufactures custom solutions that allow for the modernization of both LV and MV equipment. The Panelshop Custom Order Engineer will be required to evaluate the existing equipment, design custom fabricated materials for the new Eaton product offering, and support the local field personnel with the successful completion of the Switchgear Modernization project. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Understand and follow prescribed EESS safety policies, pertaining to shop and field environments
- Travel to customer sites to collect physical and electrical data of customer's existing equipment
- Use CAD to create custom designed solutions to apply Eaton Power Components into vintage switchgear
- Generate customer approval drawing packages that include: bills of materials, electrical schematic drawings, electrical interconnect drawings and product specific data sheets
- Work with a cross functional team of mechanical engineers, designers and supply chain representatives
- Act as a technical resource for production team during assembly and wiring of each project
- Occasionally travel to job site to supervise installation of final solution
- Work collaboratively with sales team to provide accurate and detailed quotes
- Attend product training sessions to stay current with Eaton's latest product offerings and their applications in switchgear modernization.
- Participate and contribute to process improvements
Qualifications:
Basic (required) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical or engineering technology) from an accredited institution.
- This position requires up to 25% travel anywhere in North America.
- Must have training and/or experience working with AutoDesk
- Firm understanding of basic controls theory and wiring practices.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

Success Criteria:
- Applicants must be willing to perform all aspects of product design & test. Frequent physical labor is required to assemble, verify, and test prototype samples.
- Applicants must successfully complete EESS safety training to operate at customer sites. Applicants must adhere to all EESS safety programs and policies.
- A valid driver's license in required.
- Willingness to work with basic hand tools and work in a shop environment is essential.
