Chief Power Distribution Engineer - Direct Current

Eaton, a global leader in power distribution, conversion and control, is seeking a Chief Power Distribution Engineer for Direct Current applications with an initial emphasis on Data Centers. This role may be located in Moon Township, PA (preferred), Raleigh, NC or Milwaukee, WI. Relocation assistance will be provided within the continental United States.

Reporting to VP of Emerging Technology, our Chief Power Distribution Engineer, will design direct current power systems from DC source to the servers. This position will work with Eaton's Data Center customers recommending optimal power system designs and strategies for direct current and translating those strategies to requirements for circuit protection devices, Switchgear, Switchboards, Panelboards, Busway, etc. The Chief Power Distribution Engineer and DC Systems team will collaborate with multiple Eaton product lines to develop innovative new solutions in this emerging market. This role is expected to travel up to 30%, and a hybrid work model (3 onsite/2 remote) is available.

In this role you will:
• Lead the design of direct current power systems in data centers from customer concepts through to detailed one-lines.
• Perform electrical equipment sizing, breaker coordination studies, arc flash studies and other fundamental power system design work with direct current products from Eaton.
• Work with product teams to specify new products to fill gaps in Eaton's DC offering.
• Engage with 3rd party suppliers when required to fill product gaps not produced by Eaton.
• Work with the Direct Current Data Center System Architect to identify optimal value for the customer and perform trade-off studies of different approaches to DC Power distribution.
• Provide application guidance to Eaton Research & Development teams for DC-related research
• Engage with codes and standards committees on new Direct Current product standards and applicable building code updates.

Your Qualifications:
• Extensive background in Electrical Power System and analysis design. Minimum of 15 years of in Electrical Power System and analysis and practicing design; to include the following:
o Designing overall power system topology for commercial facilities & data centers
o Equipment & conductor sizing
o Grounding & bonding
• Proficient in power system modeling & analysis including:
o Short-circuit & protective device coordination
o Arc flash calculations & arc flash mitigation
o Load flow analysis
• Working knowledge of tools such as SKM Power*Tools, CYME, PSCad
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

Preferred Qualifications:
• Specific experience in Data Center applications
• Registered Professional Engineer - Electrical
• Master's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution

Your Skills:
• Experience with Direct Current applications
• Knowledge of basic power distribution product offerings
• Knowledge of relevant codes & standards
• Experience creating / modifying drawings in AutoCAD
• Demonstrated technical leadership. Strong mentoring skills for more junior engineers and ability to influence matrixed engineers in product lines.
• Proactive, consistently takes initiative, with excellent time management skills

The expected annual salary range for this role is $145500.03 - $213400.04 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
