Eaton India Innovation Center is seeking a Chief Engineer-Digital Engineering in Pune.

What you'll do:

The incumbent will lead digital engineering office of chief engineers responsible to focus on three skill areas in center of excellence organization at Eaton India Innovation Center, Pune. These three skill areas includes digital engineering, design for six sigma and design for reliability. As part of technical leadership on digital engineering, the role will develop strategy and drive technology advancement, innovation and external connect in alignment with business needs. He / She will lead execution of high complexity programs to own critical decision making on research, development and sustaining engineering. As a quality function leader, the role will provide governance to drive synergies across businesses and accountable for critical program sign-off for relevant work packages.

As part of design for six sigma and design for reliability focus, role will develop green belt and black belt training material, and will conduct DfSS trainings across Eaton global sites. Incumbent will be responsible to upgrade existing DfSS methodologies / tools and create new methodologies / tools. Provide expert guidance for business priority programs in technical areas such as quality function deployment, product design scorecard, concept trade-off matrix, design optimization, reliability, statistics and design of experiments. Participate in global DfSS council to represent voice of technical experts.

Incumbent is expected to partner with product engineering, supply chain, manufacturing and program management leaders to achieve strategic objectives. Role will provide technical guidance, functional work supervision and technical approvals for work done by technical experts. Incumbent should establish positive working relations with various local and global stakeholders and cross functional team to facilitate open dialogue and trust building across the organization. The focus should be on standardization of processes and practices that will enable organization to engineer secure, future-proof, optimized solutions, while helping to improve efficiency and productivity in a data-driven framework. This role should be leveraging the Eaton Business System (EBS) and relevant industry standards. This role will also network, collaborate and influence with various engineering leaders across the local and global organization to support or lead various initiative prescribed in Eaton Business System (EBS).

  • Support overall global strategy for processes and capabilities to deliver quality products & services on-time in line with the business objectives
  • Initiate & implement process improvements to support the Eaton Business System; Technology Roadmaps, DfSS, DfR, and Digital Design
  • Promote and maintains a professional work environment, drive analysis first culture and DfX deployment for flawless execution
  • Maintain effective communication both verbal & written with stakeholders, and cross functional departments
  • Participate in external conferences, relevant consortium, professional bodies to understand market insights and regulatory trends
  • Work closely with product line leaders to translate current & future requirements into compelling simulation methodologies
  • Aim to increase impact of digital engineering during product development cycle through building new capabilities
  • Set goals and oversee technical leadership within a cross functional project teams, drive technical talent developement
  • Ensure efficient use of resources to ensure projects are completed within the required budget & time frame
  • Performs quality checks to ensure design meets Eaton and customer standards / requirements
  • Generate in-design innovation, modularity and drive scale for digital design methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD in mechanical or electrical engineering, with demonstrated experience in relevant domain
  • 15+ years of experience, preferably in digital engineering and engineering functional excellence

Skills:

  • Expertise in digital engineering, design for six sigma, design for reliability
  • Ability to coach and guide technical experts in digital engineering and design for six sigma
  • In depth understanding of technology trends in digital engineering and design optimization
  • In depth understanding on application of design for six sigma, statistics, and reliability techniques
  • Expertise in handling new product & technology development leveraging stage gate approach
  • In depth understanding and hands-on experience of working on relevant software tools and methods
  • Proficient in design of machine elements and system analysis
  • Strategic agility - sees ahead clearly; can create competitive and breakthrough strategies
  • Drive for results - can be counted on to exceed goals successfully
  • Decision quality - makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment
  • Demonstrated experience in managing & developing new processes, systems and tool
