Certified Non-Destructive Test - Magnetic Particle Inspection (3rd shift)

Eaton's IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Certified Non-Destructive Test - Magnetic Particle Inspection (3rd shift).

The hourly rate for this position is $31.86 per hour. The third shift hours are as follows 12:00 am - 7:00 am

What you'll do:

The Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division of Eaton's Aerospace Group has an opening for a Gear Cell Inspection. This position is based in Euclid, OH.
The Euclid facility has approximately 400 employees and is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of Aerospace Fuel Pumping components, systems and services to the global aftermarket and OEM markets.

Position Overview:

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections and maintain accurate documentation on a variety of parts in accordance with ANSI Y14-5.

• Perform Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI) and Eddy Current Testing.
• Train others in the classification working towards their certification.
• Coach less experienced inspectors on proper operational procedures.
• Added to the FAA safety sensitive roaster.
• Perform 5S and other job related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Functions:

• Operate gear checking equipment (M&M).
• Set up, adjust, and control electronic equipment such as Eddy Current, and evaluate the surface and sub-surface flaws and discontinuities, to the specifications outlined by written procedures or verbal instructions.
• Oversee training of less experienced employees in MPI techniques (Level I or trainees)
• Work with cognizant level III to improve MPI process and create techniques as requested, including the use of QQIs and gauss mete/Teslameter.
• Set up and conduct processes involving Mag Particle inspection to detect, evaluate, and report on quality aspects such as surface and sub-surface defects, cracks, seams, and discontinuities. MIL STD 1949 and MIL STD 410.
• Chemical etching applications in regards to part marking & perform necessary part marking.
• Must apply basic math skills, read and interpret complex blueprints and geometric symbols to identify inspection requirements, and select proper measuring devices.
• Visually and dimensionally inspect parts for conformance and take appropriate action to call out discrepancies.
• Generate and maintain all required logs and records as prescribed by customer or MIL Specs including lab reports, log books, records, etc.
• Set up and use a variety of standard gauges, dial indicators, mechanical and electronic gauges, indexing heads, surface plates, comparators and other special gauges and testing devices to determine conformance.
• Make decisions regarding appearance, fits, finish, etc. where definite specifications cannot be established.
• Use mathematical calculations to determine sizes and measuring to conformance.
• Maintain frequent and close attention to assigned work stations making usual, dimensional, procedural and operating observations.
• Accurately transcribe documentation details from individual device folders to master product documentation package.
• Maintain accurate lot control (QCP 6.0) traceability, record keeping, log book entries, NCR's (QCP 11.0) and associated documentation.
• Move material within the cell.
• Perform minor machine maintenance.
• May be required to perform more than one operation at a time as directed by the supervisor.
• May be required to burr work internal to the cycle

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Must reside within a 50 mile radius of work location; no relocation benefit is provided.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• Minimum of one (1) year inspection experience, which must include utilization of mechanical gaging devices with variable dimension readout capability OR have Minimum three (3) or more years of Certified Operator experience, which must include utilization of mechanical gaging devices with variable dimensional readout capability, is equivalent to one (1) year of inspection experience.

Position Criteria:

• Become certified MPI Level II inspector within 12 months (provided training is made available)
• An employee who fails the Level II MPI Certification may have the opportunity to re-test after the completion of an additional documented 200 hours of training or less, as deemed necessary by the responsible level III.
• Complete an Eaton approved training program within 30 days.
• Pass an Eaton vision test.
