The Principal Platform Engineer on the Network Monitoring tools team is an SME in operations and project delivery, stabilization, and reliability to the organization. The Network Monitoring tools team is responsible for overall design, implementation, testing and maintenance of the Network monitoring tools & observability solutions. Accountable for network fault, performance and configuration management including alerting, reporting functions of entire DTCC network infrastructure.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the installation and configuration of DTCC's Network Monitoring, Alerting, Reporting & Observability applications.
  • Collaborate with various collaborators groups and team members to design and validate required solutions that meet DTCC standards for security, resiliency, and reusability
  • Lead immediate support for production issues related to areas of expertise, resolve sophisticated Network Monitoring, Observability, alerting, reporting, dashboarding technology issues.
  • Author system documentation and supporting documents to ensure transparency of design to minimize future maintenance costs
  • Deliver targeted business outcomes by participating in the technical decision-making process
  • Analyze changing business requirements to determine impact and optimal solution regarding defining the future state technical architecture
  • Follow established DTCC requirements, principles and models that guide technology decisions for the enterprise (standard methodologies)
  • Applies knowledge of technology trends and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to contribute to the decision-making process
  • Provide comprehensive technical consultation to business unit, IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of the project development cycle.
  • Monitor metrics to ensure system performance meets requirements
  • Collaborate with the enterprise architect to define metrics that measure and demonstrate enterprise technology value.
  • Direct and facilitates the research, evaluation, and selection of software/hardware technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
  • Mitigates risk by following established procedures and monitoring controls, spotting key errors and demonstrating strong ethical behavior.
  • Must be flexible and available to provide off-hours support when required and weekly on call rotation, when needed to support the production environment.

Talents Needed For Success:
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Additional Qualifications:
  • Advance or expert knowledge of networking monitoring tools, such as: SNMP v3, netflow, etc.
  • Advance or expert knowledge of monitoring tools, such as Riverbed Steel Central Suite (Profiler, NetIM, Netplanner, AppResponse, Alluvio IQ), Broadcom Dx NetOps (Spectrum, Performance Manager, AI Ops), etc.
  • Solid knowledge of TCP/IP networking, UNIX/LINUX systems and monitoring protocols
  • Ability to monitor and analyze performance of Network systems using a diverse Network abilities and a variety of tools. Strong Network Troubleshooting skillset in a campus & Data Center environment.
  • Must have well-developed Unix scripting and good hands-on knowledge in any one of the following scripting languages: Perl /Python. Ansible Knowledge is an added advantage,
