Summary:

The Director of Operations Strategy is a key role on the Operations Strategy & Excellence Team and reports directly to the Vice President of Operations Strategy & Excellence. This team is charged with optimizing the global operations function to enhance the client experience, improve efficiency, and aid in the design and execution of initiatives consistent with enterprise data security considerations. You will have the opportunity to head multiple large-scale projects with high visibility that tackle the organization's most pressing and complex problems, lead a team of Analysts & Process experts, serve as a functional business partner, and develop talent to create an organizational Center of Excellence.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are excited to engage quickly and effectively in a potentially ambiguous environment. This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced project manager or engagement manager and is looking to continue to develop their leadership skills by tackling increasingly more complex and high visibility projects. You will be responsible for leading multiple projects and/or projects that have a complex scope that have direct impact on multiple functions and support executive level strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Project Engagement Manager - 60%

  • Lead, manage, mentor, coach, and direct a team focused on executing operational improvement projects within the business to drive bottom-line impact
  • Manage multiple complex projects at once with a diverse set of workstreams
  • Ensure projects are accurately planned and staffed with a team possessing the necessary capabilities to lead to a successful outcome
  • Provide project working team with problem solving support and analytical guidance
  • Keep projects on track by regularly evaluating progress towards big-picture objectives and remaining adaptable as scope may flex based on leadership input
  • Align cross-functional project stakeholders and effectively navigate issues as they arise
  • Influences stakeholders across a variety of roles and business functions to take action and/or adopt a new point of view
  • Compose project stakeholder read-out presentations, with limited guidance from leadership
    • Write overall storyline to deliver key messages in a clear and concise matter
    • Compile content that simplifies complex information into core messages
    • Deliver presentations in a way that is tailored to a variety of audiences, including executive leadership
  • Quantify financial & non-financial project impact to help drive project prioritization decisions
  • Act as a PMO for highly complex initiatives with multiple workstreams and functional leaders by compiling project data, leading regular project updates for leadership, and escalating issues to leadership in a timely manner
  • Utilize a consistent project execution approach to drive increased operational rigor within the organization
  • Execute projects using the operational pillars of simplification, standardization, leveraging software & technology, creating actional metrics, and focusing on value; all while keeping our data and people safe

Responsibilities Continued:

Business Partner Relationship - 20%

  • Act as a liaison with functional senior leaders to ensure projects are properly supported, prioritized, and executed aligning with both functional needs of the organization and advancing strategic initiatives
  • Establish and grow deep relationships with functional leaders as a trusted advisor on operational improvement opportunities

Direct Manager - 20%

  • Coach direct reports on technical skills such as data analytics, process mapping, process optimization, and creating project presentations
  • Ensure team members have the necessary skills to achieve departmental goals providing career development as necessary
  • Provide ad-hoc project problem solving and functional expertise
  • Mentor and support other managers and directors on the team, and helps guide overall direction of Ops Strategy team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6 + years of proven project management within the Financial Services industry or a Service Operations organization
  • Consulting experience is a plus, especially former Managers/Engagement Managers/Project Leaders
  • Lean, Six Sigma Black Belt, PMP Certified, or comparable certification is a plus
  • Strong functional expertise in Service Operations and/or Professional Services
  • Highly proficient in process mapping and process optimization with the ability to coach team members on such skills
  • Proficient in data compilation, data analysis, and basic Excel modeling
  • Strong project management skills and ability to collaborate with multiple cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholder groups to strategically shape projects; lead execution with strong executive presence
  • Ability to synthesize and simplify complex concepts/requirements to the team and stakeholders and tie back to business objectives
  • Facilitate regular project reviews, including ownership of scheduling, presentations, and action items
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), PowerBI, and process mapping tools such as MS Visio
  • Comfort working with potentially ambiguous problems and working on projects that are consistently new and challenging
  • Ability to lead and coach project working team and direct reports
