Summary Description

Dolby's Taiwan FAE Team is seeking a Field Application Engineer (FAE) responsible for providing engineering and technical support to assist the sales team with closing new design wins. The FAE will do this by providing technical support and acting as a visionary for helping our customers understand how Dolby's technologies can enhance the value proposition of their products. The FAE will be the primary "technical voice of the customer" within Dolby for assigned accounts.

This position requires an in-depth working knowledge of audio technologies and their integration into ICs and firmware solutions for integration into consumer electronics, TVs, set-top boxes, mobile devices, and other entertainment products. The FAE will be the serve as the technical resource for assigned accounts and will regularly report on key trends, market conditions, customer feedback, competitive technologies, and sale obstacles that they may encounter while in engaging with customers.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide detailed technical support to IC companies based in China and Taiwan, engage with customers from pre-sales through software integration, till implementation certification and related system support. Occasionally travel will be required.
  • Understand customer requirements, delivering technical presentations, technology demonstrations, and promoting the value proposition of Dolby technologies to customers. Technical lead for sales-orientated technical presentations and demonstrations to customers' technical staff and senior management.
  • Support system integration issues which are based on Android and Linux platforms. Help to clarify technical issues reported from regional FAE teams through SoC partner's channels.
  • Interface with Dolby Engineering and Business Group to provide input and suggestions for new products and features, based on customer needs and competitive information. Leverage customer meetings to gather intelligence about customers' end product plans, product requirements and sharing data with relevant internal Dolby teams.
  • Support PM and sales teams to interact with customers and new prospects as needed to conduct the business of technology licensing using a diplomatic, professional and service-oriented approach, including written correspondence and face-to-face meetings.
  • Attend trade shows, seminars, conferences, and educational events to keep abreast of industry developments, promote and demonstrate Dolby technologies and examine the potential of new markets for Dolby technologies.
Education, Skills, Abilities, and Experience Required
  • M.S. or B.S. in Engineering and >5 years of progressive professional technical experience. Requires a working knowledge of audio and product applications and design. Experience with IC or firmware-based audio processing is required. Master degree is preferred.
  • Experience must include exposure to the following areas: ICs, embedded software development, analog and digital circuit, SW drivers, audio/video application/product design.
  • Strong programming skills on embedded system in C/C++/Python languages
  • Embedded operating system experience (Android/Linux)
  • Hands-on experience on implementing AAC/Dolby Digital/Dolby Digital Plus or similar audio codec and audio post processing.
  • Knowledge of common audio analysis tools including Audio Precision (HW), and Adobe Audition (SW)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team building skills, plus strong work and business ethics.
  • Self-motivated, self-assured person with aptitude to interface with personnel from highest to lowest levels of customer engineering organizations.
  • Excellent understanding of the sales process with substantive depth to develop solutions to complex engineering related issues.
  • Customer-focused with strong service orientation.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve goals established in a team environment. Ability to understand and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Fluency in both oral and written English
  • Interest in music, audio/video production, recording engineering, broadcast engineering, film audio, home audio or acoustics desirable.
