Summary Description
This Field Applications Engineer (FAE) position is audio-focused and based in Tokyo office, to support automotive licensees to adopt Dolby's audio technologies into their products. This FAE is the technical interface to automotive customers, who will need to be familiar with Dolby's audio specific technologies, provide technical support in both pre-sale and post-sale phases, cooperate with different Dolby teams and customer teams, by following specific processes, to make sure Dolby's technologies are correctly integrated and verified in the target system products.
Essential Job Functions
- Interact with partners to enable Dolby's technology in cars.
- Verify licensee products by following test procedures, evaluating test data, and communicating test results to customers.
- Mentor licensees to meet Dolby's product performance expectations.
- Support pre-sales activity by delivering technical presentations, demonstrating new products, and promoting the value proposition of Dolby technologies to potential partners
- Manage the day-to-day communication on technical issues, communicating with Dolby's Tier 2 support / Engineering teams and following up on outstanding technical issues both internally and externally with partners
- Establish and own the relationships with technical contacts at existing and prospective partners
- Domestic travelling to Japanese licensee sites is needed. International travel occasionally is also required.
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering Technology, Electrical, Audio, etc., or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of acoustic work experience in the automotive industry is essential.
- Useful experience includes expertise/knowledge/familiarity with any (not all) of the following areas:
- Familiarity with automotive audio architecture and speaker systems, experience in cabin tuning.
- Audio codecs, audio post-processing fundamentals, and audio transmission related protocols in the Automotive industry.
- Familiarity with tools and methods for electrical tests, software tests, and acoustic measurements.
- Familiar with audio software or acoustic hardware components in Automotive audio.
- Critical listening skill
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving abilities when working on complex problems
- Ability to understand and explain technical issues to technical and non-technical personnel
- Comprehensive written and verbal communication skills in English
- Familiar with Android OS framework software development is preferred.
- Vehicle cabin tuning or other multi-channel speaker system tuning experience is preferred.
- Interest in music, audio production, recording engineering, game/film audio, or acoustics is highly desirable.
- Programming skills in embedded systems in C/C++ language are desirable.
