Job Summary

The position objective is to lead Shenzhen ISP/PQ team, understand the PQ gaps across TV, PC and mobile et al, ISP gaps for mobile platform, work with relevant teams to clarify & define the roadmap and lead local ISP/PQ team to resolve customers' ISP/PQ issues & improve Dolby Vision capture and display experience et al. The candidate should have the solid understanding and prior knowledge of different aspects in digital image / video processing pipeline in professional and consumer capture and display devices. The candidate (lead local ISP/PQ team) will work on the development, implementation of cutting-edge picture quality measurement and tuning methods and tools et al. He should mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead Shenzhen ISP/PQ team and mentor junior engineers.
  • Clarify the ISP/PQ gaps, define the roadmap, resolve customer's issues, and improve Dolby Vision capture and display experience.
  • Lead the development of tools and utilities to assist image / video quality tuning and evaluation.
  • Fine tune image / video quality in display and capture systems.
  • Create / encode picture quality test signals / measurement images / video streams.
  • Conduct trainings to support / field / OEM engineers on the tools, utilities developed by the picture equality group.
  • Work with cross functional teams such as product development and quality assurance
  • Interface with SOC, ISP and display venders, understand SOC's image / video processing functions.
  • Interface with customers to understand their feedback and requirement, solve field issues.
  • Document custom image video quality analysis tools and ISP tuning tools, systematically prepare complete and accurate technical documentation.
  • Lead internal video quality review and interact with external customers.
Qualifications
  • B.S. / M.S. / PhD in Computer Science, electrical engineering, or comparable field with 10 + years' relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital image / video processing theory and practice.
  • Solid understanding and working knowledge of image processing algorithm development for color reproduction on mobile phones.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in fine tuning image and video processing modules on mobile phones, deep understanding of ISP pipelines in phone cameras.
  • 3+ years programming experience in Python, MATLAB, and C/C++.
  • Familiar with a wide range of digital image processing algorithms and techniques, as well as image quality metrics, measurement techniques and optimization. Like Spatial/temporal interpolation, Sharpness / detail adjustment, Color saturation and contrast control et al.
  • Solid understanding of display backlight technology, and experience in fine tuning control modules for optimized picture quality.
  • Understanding of advanced display technologies and related processing.
  • Proficient at applying scientific principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to a variety of challenging technical problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, and team-oriented work ethic.
  • Fluent English communication in speaking, reading, and writing.
Desirable experience and skills
  • Deep understanding of image / video pipelines in TVs, monitors, PCs, game consoles, tablets, and mobile phones.
  • Background in video codec technologies, such as avc/hevc/av1/vvc.
