The Senior Core Technology Manager will be a member of a team of core technology managers responsible for managing audio, imaging and IP security core technologies used in a wide variety of products to deliver best-in-class experiences with Dolby content. Dolby's IP security program is a key part of our overall IP protection strategy and makes a significant contribution to Dolby's bottom line. The team develops and supports a number of scalable core technology components used across the Dolby entertainment ecosystems.
The Senior Core Technology Manager, IP Security, will help model our long-term IP security program by providing a combination of corporate guidance and technical advice in order to advance our licensing model for the future. This is a highly visible role, blending the business needs and the controls necessary to protect our investments and revenue streams. They will ensure alignment with leaders from various business, sales and legal groups, and actively represent the IP Security function as a key contributor within internal working groups. They will contribute significantly to the definition, strategy, development, and execution of IP security across several businesses. This position offers the chance to make a fundamental contribution to the way Dolby deploys its Intellectual Property. We are looking for an accomplished business professional with IP Security technical proficiency and proven business acumen.
Responsibilities:
- Define, create and deliver Dolby's IP Security vision and value proposition
- Drive consensus across multiple stakeholder teams in order to obtain buy-in from those groups on proposed solutions
- Use sound business judgment to influence and change mindsets to drive IP Security as the next frontier in driving profitability and shareholder value
- Champion cross functional stakeholder efforts to better predict contingent outcomes from both the customer and market competitive perspectives
- Understand the company and customer business ecosystem to better integrate the IP Security value proposition throughout the supply chain while balancing the needs of both
- This position will require regular interaction with Dolby's IP Protection personnel, engineering, various business groups, sales and operations teams as well as third party tool vendors service providers and customers
- Creates and maintains forward looking IP Security technology strategy
- Defines the IP Security requirements and longer-term roadmaps, ensuring Dolby's IP is secure and protected in our partner implementations
- Based on the defined roadmap, creates and executes a tactical plan for development of security controls
- Drives the IP Security engineering teams to deliver these security controls using agile methodology, and be adaptable to changes in the market or in the internal environment
- Drives cross-functional teams toward common goals by effectively navigating the organization, and using IP Security thought leadership to influence,
- MS/BS in Computer Science, or other related technical field or equivalent experience
- MBA, or other business qualification is preferred
- 10+ years of industry experience is required
- Able to think strategically and tactically with business results in mind
- An evangelizer of new and innovative ideas, persuasive communicator able to articulate ideas and thoughts clearly through various means, including written and oral communications with all levels of the organization, especially c-suite
- Understanding of technology delivery modes in the context of intellectual property and licensing models
- Wide-ranging knowledge of IP protection and security landscape
- Key technologies and players in the market
- Mechanisms and techniques to protect both hardware and software IP
- Cloud IP delivery mechanism
- In-depth knowledge of the hardware and software mechanisms available in embedded and consumer devices:
- Software protection techniques and countermeasures against reverse engineering
- Knowledge of cryptographic concepts
- Trusted Execution Environment, TrustZone and Virtualization
- Watermarking and tracking techniques
- Provisioning of security assets
- Code protection
- SOC architecture
- Strong ability to navigate internal and external partners, build relationships and trust in a team environment
- Clarity of thought and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Speaks the language of technologists, business and product people
- Curious and up to date on relevant market developments
