Associate Test Engineer - Dolby Vision
This role is an entry-level technical position requiring academic or practical knowledge of video coding principles and foundational color science concepts. This involves testing production and post-production software tools, professional video encoder/decoders, and similar products using test procedures provided in our system development kits deliverables, with emphasis on video performance. Key responsibilities include assisting with evaluations of licensed partner products, analyzing test results, setting up test environments, and collaborating with application engineers on product integration. The ideal candidate should have academic or practical exposure to professional industry post-production software tools, a theoretical understanding of production workflows, and strong communication skills. Knowledge of standard formats, scripting languages, and Dolby technologies is required. This position offers growth opportunities while developing professional judgment and problem-solving abilities in a supportive environment with appropriate supervision.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct evaluation testing on licensed Dolby Vision professional partner products
• Analyze test results to determine pass/fail status and compile data for reporting
• Set up test environments by coordinating with partners on equipment and configuration requirements
• Collaborate with application engineers and customers to understand partner product integration details, including customized workflows and waived requirements
• Contribute to test kit development by providing feedback on test instructions, signals, and methodologies
• Test consumer Dolby Vision TV's and PC monitor implementations and systems during periods when no professional products are in the test queue
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
• Must possess working knowledge of video coding principles (such as compression, bitrates, and codecs) and fundamental understanding of color science concepts including color spaces, gamut mapping, and HDR/SDR workflows
• Hands-on experience with production/post-production software tools (DaVinci Resolve, Avid Pro Tools, Steinberg Nuendo, Filmlight Baselight, Colorfront Transkoder, Rohde & Schwarz Clipster, MTI Film Cortex, Adobe Premiere Pro)
• Knowledge of production/post-production workflows, terminologies and best practices
• Knowledge of standard archival/mezzanine formats (J2K, MXF, IMF, MOV, or ADM)
• Knowledge in SDI and HDMI interfaces
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and advanced concepts, including TCP/IP protocols, routing, switching, and network security principles
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, plus strong work and business ethics
• Fundamental knowledge of Dolby Vision
• Familiarity of Dolby Audio and Dolby Atmos
• Experience using scripting languages such as Python

The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is $79,900-$103,900. which can vary if outside this location,plus bonus, benefits, and some roles may also include equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
