Commerce, Data & Identity provides the core product management functions for areas crucial to Disney’s media businesses. These include initiatives and products that power digital commerce, identity, and growth, as well as those that reach uniquely across The Walt Disney Company enterprise, such as messaging and privacy, among others. Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment & ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and Develop Data Pipelines: Create scalable and efficient data processing pipelines using Apache Spark to handle large volumes of data.
- Data Enrichment Solutions: Implement processes to integrate and enhance data from multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Optimize Performance: Monitor and tune Spark applications for optimal performance and resource utilization.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Ensure Data Quality: Implement data validation and cleansing procedures to maintain high data quality standards.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for data processes, architectures, and workflows.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
Qualifications
- 7+ of experience in software engineering with a focus on big data processing and data enrichment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Apache Spark and its components (Spark SQL, Spark Streaming, etc)
- Strong programming skills in [Java, Scala, Python]
- Experience with big data ecosystems such as Hadoop, Hive, and related technologies.
- Familiarity with data integration tools and ETL processes.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms [AWS] and their services, including cloud databases (Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks Delta Lake)
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies.
- Software Engineering best practices
- Familiarity with Data Modeling techniques and Data Warehousing standard methodologies and practices

The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, California is $152,200 to $204,100 per year, in Seattle, Washington is $159,500 to $213,900 per year, in New York, New York is $159,500 to $213,900 per year, and in San Francisco, California is $166,800 to $223,600 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
