Job Duties and Responsibilities

DISH is innovating and changing the way the world communicates; and we are looking to build out our team that can deliver strong HR strategic support. The Senior Manager, HR Business Partners makes meaningful impacts on business objectives through comprehensive strategic talent management initiatives. They will develop and direct the strategic people plan that supports the overarching goals of the Executive Leadership Team and/or C-suite while managing a small team of HR Business Partners.

This leadership position will lead an important part of the Strategic HR Business Partner team and will closely work with business leaders to reframe business challenges through the lens of the overall employee experience. They will consistently scan the environment for future opportunities and talent challenges and develop proactive strategies designed to meet both the current and future needs of the organization.

This senior-level HR professional will regularly coach, develop and advise the Executive Leadership Team while staying abreast of external market trends and forces impacting the employee experience. As the primary driver of the People Strategy for a large organization, the Senior Manager takes an enterprise-focused approach at solving problems and leverages key relationships across the HR team to prevent redundant efforts or conflicting priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of HR Business Partners in their support of employee relations and HR functions
  • Coach and mentor direct reports in areas of HR acumen, business acumen, relationship building, and accuracy of execution of processes
  • Execute on required management tasks during cyclical events such as Performance Appraisal and Talent Planning
  • Research and recommend progressive human capital initiatives that will enhance overall organizational effectiveness and enable the company and function to meet its strategic business goals
  • Develop and execute talent management plans in partnership with the business to ensure that our best talent is placed in the right positions through targeted recruiting, performance management, succession planning and on-going development
  • Evaluate organizational design and make recommendations to optimize performance, efficiency and cost effectiveness
  • Partner with the People Operations Team to support the expansion of the HR Service Delivery Model through change management activities, consistent feedback loops and process design
  • Develop our team of Senior HR Business Partners as they partner with senior and executive leaders and other team members to influence and improve upon the employee experience
  • Work with colleagues in the DISH HR shared services organization (compensation, benefits, HRIS, analytics, etc) to assure good alignment with employee needs and ongoing process/service improvement initiatives
  • Employment brand ambassador who leads by example, and demonstrates DISH culture and values in his/her actions and words
  • Understands and can articulate department and DISH corporate business goals, including financial impacts of HR actions
  • Meet all of DISH's performance expectations, including but not limited to, satisfying all applicable metrics, productivity standards, goals, and proficiencies related to overall performance


This role reports to the Head of HR, HR Business Partner Team. Travel demands vary based on the business group supported, but are estimated at less than 25%.

Relocation assistance is available for this role.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, across multiple HR disciplines (i.e. Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Investigations, Leave of Absence, HR Operations, Compliance, Generalist work, etc.) with advanced knowledge of more than one discipline
  • 5-7+ years of people management experience
  • Experience supporting multiple employee types and multiple lines of business (high volume/entry-level, professional/specialty, technology, etc.)
  • Experience leading an HR team, including professionals at a manager level
  • Experience managing geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial culture as well as a larger, established company desired


Skills and Qualifications:
  • Deep knowledge of best practices from past employers, professional networks, and continuing education; strong preference for past experience with a best-in-class employer with strong, innovative HR practices
  • Ability to identify trends in data and/or observations, and is comfortable at informing and partnering with appropriate stakeholders to make recommendations based on trends
  • Ability to stand firm and remain committed when necessary and facilitate understanding when difficult decisions must be made and executed
  • Adept at handling multiple competing priorities and duties in a fast-paced, results-driven, rapidly changing environment - with minimal daily oversight
  • Ability to influence and communicate at the senior executive level
  • Analytical, but able to communicate complex information simply
Salary Ranges

Compensation: $110,110.00/Year - $157,300.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
