Dive in and do the best work of your career at DigitalOcean. Journey alongside a strong community of top talent who are relentless in their drive to build the simplest scalable cloud. If you have a growth mindset, naturally like to think big and bold, and are energized by the fast-paced environment of a true industry disruptor, you’ll find your place here.  We value winning together—while learning, having fun, and making a profound difference for the dreamers and builders in the world.

The Developer Content Team at DigitalOcean is looking for a Senior Content Marketing Manager II to develop and execute content strategy that helps digital native enterprises, startups, and developers succeed with cloud and AI technologies. This role will primarily focus on content strategy and planning, developing monthly and quarterly content priorities, while also editing contributions from internal and external writers. Your ownership area may include content across The Wave (our content property for technical decision makers covering artificial intelligence and cloud education), The DigitalOcean Blog, web pages, and long-form reports. This position is ideal for someone who is up-to-date with the evolving search landscape, including Google search changes and developments in LLMs, and has experience using AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to improve processes and work more effectively. While you should be comfortable with hands-on content work for refreshes and updates, the overarching focus of your role will be on strategic content direction and editorial process management. This is a senior-level individual contributor position designed for someone who thrives on being hands-on with strategy and editorial work rather than managing a team.

Please include a link to your portfolio or relevant writing samples, editing samples, or project work within the resume and/or cover letter field. Applications without work samples will not be considered.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Provide structural edits, line edits, and constructive feedback on technical content from subject matter experts, internal teams, and external contributors across content properties including The Wave, Blog, solutions pages, and long-form reports.
  • Identify content for refresh and revise existing materials to maintain relevance and optimize visibility for both Google search and LLMs.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally throughout the company to support GEO efforts, partnership initiatives, and product marketing campaigns.
  • Support the Developer Content Team on special projects, including research reports.
  • Assist with improving our workflows using AI tools and other technologies to publish content more efficiently, measure performance more accurately, and report insights more effectively.
  • Adapt content strategy quickly in response to emerging data, new search engine insights, and shifting company priorities, thinking both short-term (weekly) and long-term (quarterly) for content planning.
  • Maintain portions of our content calendar and suggest process improvements to optimize how we manage and track content planning.
  • Track and analyze content performance metrics to inform content strategy.
  • Support leadership requests for information about our content strategy and performance.

What We Expect From You:

  • At least 8-12 years in a content marketing role with demonstrated experience in content strategy, planning, and editorial leadership.
  • Experience developing B2B content strategy for technical products or services, particularly in cloud computing, AI/ML, or developer tools.
  • Strong ability to edit complex technical concepts into clear, accessible content that engages developers and startups.
  • Experience editing content for search optimization with knowledge of SEO best practices and familiarity with tools like SEMrush.
  • Commitment to staying current with developments in AI and cloud technologies to inform content strategy and ensure our audience remains up-to-date with the latest industry trends.
  • Strong project management and time management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple editorial projects, content deadlines, and cross-functional collaborations simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of the changing search landscape and ability to keep pace with Google search updates and LLM developments.
  • Proficiency with AI tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, with eagerness to explore new tools and technologies.
  • Experience with analytics tools such as Looker, Google Analytics, or Amplitude.
  • Interest in working with developers and startups across various technical topics.
