The direct tax team drives all US income tax filings, income tax provision, and long-range income tax forecasting. The direct tax team also supports tax planning and mergers and acquisitions activities. We are a small, agile, and committed team focused on delivering results and partnering effectively with all areas of the Company while supporting the individual development of the team members.

DigitalOcean is looking for Manager - Direct Tax to join the Corporate Tax team. Reporting to the Direct Tax Management Team, the Manager – Direct Tax will support our Corporate Tax Department and focus on U.S. domestic tax including federal/state/local tax compliance, tax research, taxable income forecasting, and international tax.  This individual should have 4+ years minimum, of job related corporate tax experience including a working knowledge of tax accounting and domestic direct tax compliance.

  • Assist in the creation of the domestic components of the U.S. Federal consolidated corporation income tax return
  • Work internally and with external advisors regarding domestic tax analyses, planning, and compliance
  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision, including uncertain tax positions and tax planning
  • Prepare documentation related to the quarterly and annual tax memorandum
  • Partner in the preparation of income tax forecasting, tax payment processing, and tax account reconciliation
  • Manage tax jurisdiction correspondence and first line audit defense
  • Other tasks as necessary

What We'll Expect From You:

Professional Requirements

  • 4+ years minimum of job related corporate tax experience in either a multinational corporate tax department or public accounting firm.
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 as it relates to multinational corporations.
  • Strong tax technical accounting and writing skills.

Experience/Education

  • CPA eligible/pursuing or JD required.
  • Masters in Tax, or LLM a plus.
  • 2+ years minimum, of job related Big Four experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite of products, Netsuite, tax research software.

The salary range for this role is specific to candidates located within the U.S. and will vary for candidates outside the U.S..
