About the Site
St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin is Diageo's largest manufacturing facility in Ireland, and the largest stout brewery in the world, producing over three million pints of Guinness every day, supplying a growing Irish, UK and US market, and exporting to 90 global markets. Our main beer brands are Guinness, Rockshore, Hop House 13, Smithwick's and Harp. We also brew Carlsberg and Tuborg under licence for the Irish market, as well as a range of newer products, most recently Guinness 0.0. The brewery is highly utilised placing a premium on plant and process reliability.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, you'll collaborate closely with production team members throughout the brewery. In this pivotal role, you'll provide essential laboratory analysis for our onsite projects, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of results.
Your primary focus will be on microbiological sampling, analysis, and reporting, utilizing a range of techniques including aseptic sampling, plating, staining, microscopy, and LIMS operation.
Experience in GMP within a fast-paced, customer-centric environment is crucial, as is a proficiency in routine microbiological analytical techniques such as yeast propagation and growth promotion testing.
As part of your responsibilities, you'll also support shift Microanalysts when required, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Moreover, you'll contribute to the site's Quality Agenda, ensuring adherence to Quality Sample Plans and aiding in the preparation of analytical reagents. Training new laboratory staff and production personnel in QC tests will be integral to your role, as will maintaining awareness of key performance indicators and ensuring their achievement.

A third level degree or diploma in a related science field, coupled with exposure to similar work environments, is essential for this role.
Experience in food manufacturing or laboratory settings is advantageous, along with a deep understanding of problem-solving techniques. Familiarity with Food Safety Legislation and HACCP practices is highly desirable.
