Group Strategy Manager - 12 month Fixed Term Contract

3 days ago London, United Kingdom

Please note: this role is a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, starting October 2025

About Us

Our ambition is to build the best performing, most trusted and respected Consumer Products Company in the world. To achieve this, we need the world's very best people. We're looking for people with creativity, boldness, and a sense of purpose to take Diageo and our timeless, groundbreaking brands to the next level.

About the Role

This is a strategic role with visibility and impact across the business. As Group Strategy Manager, you'll work directly with Senior Strategy Managers and the Group Strategy Director, while interacting across our C-Suite, Regional Presidents, Global Functional Leaders, and Market MDs to help frame key strategic questions and deliver robust, aligned answers.

You'll be encouraged to bring constructive challenge to senior management, influence decision-making, and ensure strategic clarity across our leadership teams. The role spans corporate strategy, market and category strategy, and functional transformation. You'll support and lead workstreams on projects that cut across the entire value chain-from global commercial growth strategy to supply chain transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Senior Strategy Managers and Group Strategy Director to shape Diageo's global strategic direction.
  • Support the design and delivery of major corporate, category, market, and functional strategies.
  • Conduct meticulous strategic and financial analysis, including modelling to inform long-term business decisions.
  • Bring external and forward-looking perspectives to all work, considering economic, socio-demographic, geopolitical, and consumer trends.
  • Support cross-functional problem-solving, providing insights and recommendations that enable senior leaders to adopt new points of view.
  • Translate strategic thinking into clear, actionable insights that drive transformation.
  • Communicate complex ideas in a simple and compelling way to senior audiences.
  • Take ownership of workstreams and stakeholder engagement, ensuring alignment across the business.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a strong problem-solver with analytical depth, collaborative skills, and the ability to contribute to high-impact strategic work.

You'll need to demonstrate:
  • 6+ years of total professional experience, with a strong grounding in business strategy
  • 3-4 years in a dedicated strategy role within a top-tier consultancy (e.g., McKinsey, BCG, Bain) or corporate strategy in a global organisation
  • Consistent track record in framing complex business problems and developing clear, data-led insights.
  • Experience working across multiple markets, categories, or functions, ideally in a matrixed, global environment.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities, coupled with the ability to deliver a clear strategic narrative.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence across functions.
  • Curiosity, external radar, and a passion for understanding business, industry, and consumer trends.
  • Energy, optimism, and the confidence to bring constructive challenge to senior stakeholders.
