About the team:

In Consumer Digital Transformation, our objective is to provide world-class consumer experiences that drive brand & business growth in an efficient and sustainable way. We do this via 5 ‘engines' focused on driving consistent capability, technology and operating models to deliver this transformation across marketing fields (Scaled Reach, Content, Digital Commerce, Marketing Effectiveness and Data) supporting markets and brands to deliver their shape of A&P. These engines are enabled by a transversal MarTech Transformation Office, to scale these kinds of outcomes in repeatable way.

About the role:

This role sits within the Scaled Reach Engine, which is focused on building world class media, retail media, social media and earned media capabilities and operating models. Using data and technology to future proof our approach and drive efficiency and effectiveness in our $1bn+ Media & Scaled Reach investment whilst upholding our standards and reputation.

The Global Head of Media Operations will be the strategic leader responsible for building and delivering a world-class Media Operations function across Diageo, partnering across the full breadth of our business, globally.

Paid Media is central to Diageo's marketing strategy and in a volatile and fragmenting media landscape, we believe strong media leadership is more important than ever. We need leadership that is expert, data-driven, willing to take action and in step with our value that creativity, performance and a strong reputation are equally important to drive growth.

We are on a mission to invest more money into media and responsibly drive more business impact, more value from this investment to reinvest into growth. This role is pivotal in driving our media agenda to meet this mission. Media and data are now intrinsically linked, and we need a leader who is data-savvy and can drive our transformation to a media model built up from data intelligence that is fit for the evolving media landscape.

Our organisation is structured around a market-based model, with central strategy, oversight and operations and regional hubs that enable markets to deliver consumer digital transformation with pace and agility.

You will be responsible for our Media Operation function and its evolution ensuring we uphold high standards, move quickly as one, and test, learn and rapidly scale across all our markets. This role will ensure that our in-market media experts are enabled with data, tools and operations to drive the best outcomes from our investment, as well as ensure we uphold our brand safety.

  • Leadership & guardianship over excellence, innovation and governance within Media Operations globally ensuring clarity of what we invest, upholding our brand safety and media data standards, and building and implementing products that drive efficiency in our investment.
  • Lead the evolution of Media Operations function to encompass all areas of Next Gen Reach (Media, Retail Media, Influencers and Social) enabling our future media model whilst maintaining our standards.
  • Ownership of Diageo's Trusted Marketplace, Brand Safety & Suitability framework and partnerships with adtech & agency partners that enable this, ensuring that Diageo upholds its reputation in media in all markets.
  • Ownership of driving multi-million-dollar re-investable efficiencies through the identification, development & implementation of media products that drive efficiency and cost-savings in our media investment
  • Ownership of Media Reporting, ensuring cleanliness and consistency of data from agency & media partners to enable Marketing Effectiveness tools, investment and performance reporting
  • Developing Media Budget setting and maximisation technology/tools to drive consistent approaches to effective levels of media investment by markets and brands
  • Day to Day leadership of Diageo's Media Operations agency, media/ad technology relationships globally and team of Media operations & technology specialists
  • Driving innovation in Diageo's approach to AdTech to remain leading edge in in harnessing data & technology within digital media
  • Building effective and trusted partnerships with key market and Global Brand team stakeholders to deliver Diageo's Consumer Digital transformation.


Leadership Responsibilities & Capabilities
  • 3 direct reports (FTE & Contractors)
  • Day to Day leadership of Global Media Operations Agency relationship and talent.
  • A strategic leader, able to turn strategy into action, and stay focused on delivery of plan.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; able to communicate complex information in a simple, straight-forward, persuasive way.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and partners simultaneously, while being extremely meticulous
  • Ability to influence, persuade and lead broader teams, cross-functionally
  • Ability to confidently present plans and ideas, often to a senior audience
  • Self-starter who is comfortable with a rapidly changing environment


To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • 10+ years of experience in digital media, media operations, data and technology with at least 5 years in a global or regional leadership role.
  • Deep knowledge of Media/Advertising Technology and Brand Safety
  • Proven success in building cross-market programs and tools that uphold standards and drive innovation in media
  • Strong understanding of alcohol-specific advertising compliance and responsible marketing frameworks globally.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and influence at C-suite level.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • Experience in or strong affinity with the beverage alcohol category is highly desirable.
  • Results-oriented attitude, with a passion for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence within the allocated budget
  • Proven ability to navigate cultural nuances & align global strategies with local market needs
  • Influential with ability to motivate change through others.
