What does this role look like for you?

Financial Controller- Korea reports directly to the APAC Regional Finance Controller and is the single point of contact of the Finance entity in Korea in respect of financial controls. For the geographical area it represents, it is the liaison between the country director and the different functions, in general, finance & external stakeholders such as auditors and tax authorities. The role will be based out of Seoul, Korea.

The role will provide operational and leadership support to drive the company's strategic objectives. It will also manage and ensure compliance to fiscal policies, controls and procedures. As part of this role, to be responsible for the quality, accuracy, timeliness and financial relevance of Chinese entity, statutory and management information. The role will also work closely with the APAC Finance controllership function.

Leadership Responsibilities

He/she is the one point of contact and business partner for the Korea finance when it comes to all point financial controls related for the geography.

Strategic responsibilities include:

  • Setting the strategy for effective and efficient delivery of the financial controls' agenda for the individual countries, continuously raising the bar
  • Mobilize the right resources (talent, process, systems) and execute the strategy
  • collaborates with the Senior FC and stakeholders to develop corporate and operational strategies and is charged with facilitating these efforts across operations.
  • Central to this role is building positive and lasting relationships between shared service center and its stakeholders.
  • Head all of operations agenda, such as, efficiency drive, BCP, Monthly performance review, annual stakeholders' satisfaction survey etc.


Decision support activities as Financial Controller, including:
  • Analysis and reporting of all financial reports, seeking and passing judgment in coordination with the countries where necessary
  • Active, pro-active management of financial figures
  • Risk treatment and assurance, Financial Control Activities, including:
  • Coordinate for the country statutory, management account and tax agenda.
  • Coordinate operational accounting activities, month and quarter end closes, within Korea entities.
  • Ensure the team produces monthly and quarterly management and financial reports in accordance with the agreed group timetable.
  • Create and maintain high quality and effective internal control area. Deliver successful internal & external (GAR, PwC) audits. Ensure Financial Controlling / RTR processes are SOX/CARM compliant.
  • Ensures GLOBAL Diageo policies and processes are followed
  • Managing in sourcing and outsourcing projects. Liaise with outsource providers. Local specifics are documented and known in order to maintain and improve the control environment effectively (local DTPs, KPIs; etc.)
  • Continuously monitors and improves the control environment; proposes actions in order to eliminate or prevent risks and to deliver opportunities
  • Provide business partnering for all key stakeholders (market finance contacts) & network with various functions within GDBS/market (Cash Cycle, Treasury, CARM) and outside DBSC (KPMG/PWC/Deloitte/EY)
  • Identify opportunities for scope expansion - create possibilities
  • Leads the preparation for external, internal (including CARM) and GAR audits
  • Responsible for the filing of tax return and ensures proper maintenance of accounting records and documentation in compliance with Regulatory requirements and Company policies
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objective of the Centre
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external and provide timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the Company
  • Provide direction to a service organization that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company


People Management:
  • Develop higher level understanding of the importance and the role of financial analysis and its impact at tactical and to a certain extent at strategic level
  • Working closely with other in-house and local finance and accounting teams (Finance, BPM, FP&R, Cash Cycle, Tax, PTP) etc...)
