Context/Scope:

We desire to operate an effective, efficient, and agile world class Regulatory Compliance function capable of adapting to an increasingly challenging, connected, and digital environment! The primary role is to support the continued maintenance and enhancement of Diageo's export compliance and drawback programs for North America. This includes our operational processes, denied party screening, export compliance, drawback compliance, free trade agreement compliance, internal audit, and government reporting procedures, and to help ensure compliance with laws governing international trade.

This role must understand and enforce Export, Customs & Trade laws, policies, and best practices while finding opportunities to make day-to-day operations more efficient. This role reports to the Manager of Drawback & Export Compliance.

Responsibilities:

The scope of this role requires working knowledge of the North American Customs Regulations, US Foreign Trade Regulations, as well as understanding of the Export Administration Regulations. This role is a key component in Diageo's export compliance program, drawback program and special projects. This role will effectively engage with Diageo's North American Plants, Logistics, Customer Operations Team, Procurement, Warehouses, Suppliers, and Freight Forwarders to continue to develop standard methodologies and ensure efficiency and compliance throughout day-to-day operations. This role must establish excellent working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, while working independently and proactively to take conclusive actions as necessary.

Key Outputs:
  • Identify and establish best practices and standards ensuring the ways of working are well documented and defined. Benchmark internally and externally, listen to user input and enable efficient and compliant international shipments and customs filings.
  • Build user capabilities through onboarding, training, and implementation of best-in-class tools.
  • Provide technical support and handle the export, free trade and drawback processes and procedures in compliance with all trade regulation and reporting requirements.
  • Support enhancements and management of the Global Trade Management solution for export and denied screening compliance.
  • Assure compliance through auditing and process confirmations, independently identifying problems or opportunities in the area of trade compliance and recommending solutions and move them to action.
  • Help ensure the company's compliance with the drawback program by ensuring accurate export and importing reporting and documentation.
  • Establish and report Key Performance Metrics regarding the performance of import and export activities.


Experience and Skills:
  • Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Export Specialist, CUSECO or other trade compliance certification preferred but not required.
  • Ideal candidate would be detail oriented, well-versed in import/export procedures, documentation requirements, have in depth understanding of Export and Import process flows.
  • Experience with an ERP and Global Trade Management software preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in computer skills including SAP, MS Office, Power Query, and Teams collaboration is preferred.
  • Ability to establish priorities.
  • Self-starter with an ability to work autonomously.
  • Must be very detail oriented.
