The purpose of the role is to provide specialist technical support and guidance supporting Global Engineering, Global Governance, and site partners. The role directly reports to the Lead Engineering Safety & Compliance Engineer and has no direct reportee's. The main responsibilities are direct specialist delivery on machinery safety risk assessments (PUWER) within the GB Island of Ireland (IOI) sector of Diageo's business, supporting engineering legislation clarification and embedding Global engineering standards and specifications with consistency across Diageo's GB IOI sector sites aligned to Global Governance.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide guidance on machinery safety supporting Diageo's Global Capex Engineering teams within GB IOI sector.
  • Coordinate all GB IOI sector PUWER machinery assessments.
  • Provide/update PUWER machinery assessments within existing GB IOI sector production locations.
  • Manage all GB IOI sector machinery inventory on Diageo's PUWER data base tool.
  • Provide machinery safety guidance to site and Governance partners.
  • Support machinery safety compliance partners in Rest of the World (ROW).
  • Review and update global engineering standards and legislation.


We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Hold an Electrical qualification (HNC, ONC, C&G, or equivalent) - essential
  • Have a relevant qualification in machinery safety (CMSE, UCPD, C&G, or equivalent), or are willing to pursue one.
  • Possess an ATEX qualification (CompEX 1-4 and/or 14, or equivalent) - desirable
  • Hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate, or are willing to work towards it.
  • Have knowledge of CE/UKCA marking OR machinery safety function design in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 and EN 62061 - or are actively working towards it .
  • Have a solid understanding of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER).
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels with internal and external partners and maintain strong attention to detail.
  • Are proficient in IT and data analysis tools, such as Excel and Power BI.
  • Have a proven track record of success in a fast-paced consumer goods environment.
  • Are adaptable to change and committed to continual development, with the ability to prioritise and plan effectively under pressure.

  • Ability to travel within GB, IOI and EU when required
  • Valid passport
  • A full clean UK DL
