SBL was incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries Limited and changed its name to Serengeti Breweries Limited in 2002 and commenced commercial operations in 1996 with one brewery in Dar es Salaam. The company was acquired by EABL in October 2010 and has three breweries located in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi.

SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brand portfolios include Guinness and Plisner. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international renowned spirit brands such as Johnnie Walker®, Smirnoff Vodka®, Bailey's Irish Cream ®, Richot®, Bond 7 Whiskey® and Gilbeys Gin®.

About the Function:

Our Supply Chain and Manufacturing team are problem-solvers, sourcing, producing, and delivering our much-loved brands to delight customers around the globe. Purpose of Role:

To direct, co-ordinate and provide leadership for the performance of the overall Engineering function within Operations team and Facilities at Moshi plant.

Accountabilities:

Leadership in Engineering Operations and Asset Care

  • Provide day-to-day direction to ensure the effective functioning of all installed engineering systems and assets.
  • Develop and maintain plant and facilities maintenance plans to ensure serviceability, plant availability, and efficient operations.

Strategic Spare Parts and Resource Management
  • Ensure availability of critical and operational spares through weekly reviews with the stock controller and effective stock level planning.
  • Lead initiatives for cost savings in utilities (water, energy) and repairs while improving efficiency.

Health, Safety, and Compliance
  • Champion a safe and healthy work environment by monitoring workplace risks and ensuring compliance with World Class Engineering Standards and EHS requirements.
  • Drive compliance with quality standards across all engineering processes.

Project and Performance Management
  • Lead engineering involvement in Capex project development, implementation, and integration, ensuring compliance, functionality, and training.
  • Oversee key projects, performance metrics, and process confirmations while ensuring alignment with site KPIs and business goals.

People Development and Cross-Functional Engagement
  • Manage and develop team capabilities, lead MMS implementation as ITF lead, and foster a culture of problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure clear communication across departments and active stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

Educational Qualifications:

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering or technical field preferred
  • Relevant professional certifications are an added advantage

Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the FMCG industry
  • Strong operational knowledge of Brewing, Packaging, and Utilities plants
  • In-depth understanding of utilities generation and distribution systems
